The area of the jumbotron now is larger than Texas's, from what I understand, it's just not all screen. As of home opener 2009, it will be all HD video screen.
That is how I understood it. Even being bigger than Texas requires an expansion then I guess it will be expanded.
And documentation? No. But if I wanted to lie and start a rumor, it would have been something damaging to Alabama.
Correction....
Miss St now has the largest in the conference. Ole Miss was 1 when htey finished but then Miss St debuted theirs just days later.
Texas is the largest in the country.
The University of Tennessee just completed plans and finalized contracts for the upgraded Jumbotron that will debut at the 2009 home opener.
They have selected a high definition Mitsubishi DiamondVision screen. UT has also upgraded all of its camera and video equipment for high definition resolution. Basically, the entirety of the space of the existing jumbotron will be one big HD screen, with all text programmed digitally.
For comparison's sake, if you've seen pictures of Texas's jumbotron, ours will be bigger.
"Naw," you'll say, "but everything's bigger in Texas!"
Not jumbotrons.

Does anyone else sit in Sec. P, Q and the lower south endzone and resent the fact that we can't see the jumbotron? Why would they not have considered the thousands who can't see it at all when they installed the thing to begin with and spent the money to put one in the south end? Some of us can see those dinky tv sets that they hang from the steel beams and are worse than 1960's tv sets, but I have friends who sit below us who can't even see those....
