The University of Tennessee just completed plans and finalized contracts for the upgraded Jumbotron that will debut at the 2009 home opener.

They have selected a high definition Mitsubishi DiamondVision screen. UT has also upgraded all of its camera and video equipment for high definition resolution. Basically, the entirety of the space of the existing jumbotron will be one big HD screen, with all text programmed digitally.

For comparison's sake, if you've seen pictures of Texas's jumbotron, ours will be bigger.

"Naw," you'll say, "but everything's bigger in Texas!"
Not jumbotrons.

Where did you hear about this? I'm ridiculously excited about it if true.

Is the total space of the current Neyland scoreboard larger than Texas' Godzillatron? It doesn't seem like it, of course the size of the stadiums as perspective may be why.
