Let the coaches pick the guys they want and think they can develop
Maybe this guy has maxed out compared to a transfer from a D1 weight program with two or three years left

Zkievious Walker entered the portal on Wednesday. He's a 300 pounder that Garner recruited to Auburn. Was a top 100 recruit. I have to wonder if there's a connection.

The supply of college football players is higher than it's ever been with the COVID year and transfer portal. He might be ranked the best JUCO DL, but would be like say the 12th best transfer (just making up numbers).

There is nothing to say that they will both sign Davis and another Portal DL or two for that matter since they are likely to sign 31-36 + this year depending on who departs for: NFL,graduating ,entering the portal,medical reasons ,etc because there is no limit on the number signed just the ceiling of 85 on scholly.

My reply wasn’t intended to be a smart @ss comment. It was only intended to illustrate that the answer to your question was in the post that generated the question. We don’t have to “know” who they are, specifically, or know if they are better. The coaches are the ones making that determination, not the fans. Your question was literally…”Wonder what happened? Why don’t we want the #1 JUCO DL in the country?” The answer was that the staff may like a few transfer options better. In most cases, the kind of transfer options we would be pursing are going to be more tested and ready to contribute that almost every JUCO option.

Check the thread at the top of the around the ncaa forum and it mentions every guy we have confirmed interest in. He’s one of the options for sure. But I don’t think anyone outside of maybe AP knows the order the staff has these guys in.

Honesty, many staffs don’t even know that themselves. It’s not easy to scout every single player in D1, D2, D3, Juco, and high school
