Redshirt sophomore forward J.P. Estrella of the University of Tennessee men's basketball team will not play Wednesday night against Oklahoma.

Estrella has been ruled out due to left foot soreness. His status is day-to-day moving forward and he will continue to be evaluated.

The Scarborough, Maine, native has appeared in 23 contests for Tennessee this season, including starting each of the past seven. He is averaging 9.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 61.6 percent from the floor.

JP’s recent improved play has factored heavily into the winning 6of 7 (or whatever it is )

Fingers crossed that tonight’s a game the Vols can skate by without Estrella .

Definitely concerning. If he’s out extended time, or for the season, we’re cooked. This team is heavily dependent on his front court presence. He’s the only reliable post threat on offense. We become pretty one dimensional when he isn’t on the court.

Big guys with foot problems especially when they're as young as Estrella is not a good thing. Hopefully nothing but definitely concerning this season and long term honestly.
Yao Ming comes to mind on this issue. I think he's a bit shorter than JP but still applies.

I haven't seen numbers yet, but the bigs had solid night. Burg's steal and streak down floor was a pleasant surprise.
