Josh Dobbs vs Vince Young....Who would you take?

This is an interesting question to pose to Mr. Bud Adams. We know where he stood at draft day a few years ago.

Oh, yea, he's dead now. :devilsmoke:

Is this really a question?

How much of a homer do you have to be to even pause half a second to answer this one?

This thread should trigger an automatic ban for at least a week of calling other fan bases delusional.

Good grief

Dobbs had only attempted 14 passes before that final drive.

Go back and watch that game. Dobbs only missed TWO throws that game. The pump and go to Josh Smith that would've been for a long competition that he overthrew. And a short crossing route to North which he threw slightly behind him. He also missed an early screen pass to Kamara but it could have also been caused by pressure.

The abysmal paasing yards were not because Dobbs was missing throws. It was PLAY-CALLING. At one point in the 4th quarter CBS put up a graphic that said we had called 44 runs and just 14 passes.

It was PLAY-CALLING not Dobbs.

Well this leads to an interesting question. Why did Butch set up a game plan that almost completely abandoned the passing game? Did he not trust Dobbs? Was he worried about UF's secondary? And the real question, after Tabor was suspended and VH3 was playing noticeably injured, why the holy heck didn't we start attacking with the passing game?!? How little faith does your coach have in you if he doesn't let you pass against that depleted secondary?

Why did Butch go for one when a two point conversion would have put us up 14 points against Florida?

Logic and reason arent things I associate with Butch Jones. He makes inexplicable coaching decisions. Its his biggest weakness.

We were talking about PASSING.

I mentioned watching a documentary on the 2005 Texas football team on the Longhorn Network and hearing the media question before the start of the season if Vince could improve enough as a passer to lead Texas to a national title. I thought it sounded a lot like the talk about Dobbs this off-season. Some called me out on it. And I responded with that post.

I don't know why his rushing yards would have any relevance to him as a passer? I've already said I think Vince is a more talented runner than Josh. I do think Josh is the more talented passer though.
Nowhere in your original post do I see anything that says you're just talking about passing. It's who would you take, Young or Dobbs. In that same post you only list the passing stats. Just wondering why you didn't include the rushing stats.

Maybe if you had actually watched UT football since 2004 you'd be able to answer your own question..

I don't have the time or patience to look the record books for more examples. Those 2 just came to mind because they happened recently in THIS CONFERENCE.

If I could find 2 examples in the last 2 years I'm sure it's common.

The problem is they aren't equal comparisons, as I pointed out in my post that you responded to. Not only did I point out how/why they aren't equal comparisons, I also explained why I thought that was an indication that such leaps are uncommon. You basically responded to that by saying, "Nuh-uhhhh... It is common",even though you provided no proof that it is. You can bury your head in the sand and convince yourself that making those kind of improvements is a common occurrence even though you admittedly have no proof that it is, but I can assure you it is very uncommon.

Regardless of on the field results, I'm taking Dobbs every time. VY is a really poor representative for a team/school.

And passing is Dobbs biggest weakness. Is yet to show real consistency in the passing game. I'm hoping he improves this year because if he does his season will be special.

Tough call, Vince accomplished a lot but he's seriously lacking between the ears. We know Josh is definitely not lacking in that department.
