Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

They are finally getting right information.

I told you months ago that accurate information about draft position only starts coming out in mid-April about a week before the draft. That is when draft boards are finalized.

then why not say that months ago, instead of saying they were twits that just follow the masses on evaluations?

i seem to remember a complete diatribe from you saying they sucked at their jobs, because all they did was fall in line with all the national guys, so as not to look bad....the idea being, if they're wrong, so is everyone else, so who cares? there was no benefit for them to go against the grain.

or does that not matter now?

or is it just that now, they've said something you like, so you need to justify posting it so you won't look like the twit?

which of these scenarios is the most plausible here...?

hmmmmm:question:

Todd McShay and Mel Kiper are both saying Dobbs will be a 2nd round pick ALL OVER SPORTSCENTER today.

McShay is also taking it a step further saying he could be the gem of this year's draft class. See here: https://twitter.com/antwanstaley/status/854411328777224193

How many QBs go before him? Suggesting that Dobbs goes second round means nothing. He could be picked 59th overall but 7th QB picked.

Are you suggesting that Dobbs will be the 3/4th QB picked ?

Again, these are the draft boards of a bunch of guys who, according to you in your infinite wisdom, don't know what they're doing.

D4H says that Josh Dobbs is the greatest Quarterback to ever set foot on planet earth. Peyton Manning never had skill anywhere close to Josh Dobbs. He is going to throw for 4500 yards and rush for 1500 yards in his Rookie year. He is going to take the browns to the super bowl and be the super bowl and season MVP, and he will be worshipped for eternity because he is the greatest quarterback to ever breathe.

Dobbs will be the 4-6 qb taken according to mocks and prospect rankings.

Being picked 2nd round would be a huge deal no matter if they took ten qbs before him.

How many second round or higher picks have we had the last few years? When have we had a qb taken that high besides Peyton which was 20 years ago?

Why do some of you want minimize Dobbs accomplishments so bad? Are all of you that bashed him just mad that yall are being proven wrong or do yall just not like Dobbs?

McShay has him as the 5th rated QB.

And FYI going in the second round is impressive regardless of how many other QBs go ahead of Dobbs.

They don't know what they're doing. If they would have been on board the Dobbs hype train earlier.

And FYI I always said I thought one front office would be smart enough to draft Josh much earlier than everyone else in the 2nd round. McShay and Kiper hyping Dobbs as a 2nd rounder tells me that more than one team is high on Dobbs.

So for once multiple NFL front offices have wised up. But they still aren't very bright because if they were, they would select Dobbs in the top 5.

Like I said this gift is hard to explain. It doesn't take long for me to tell whether a guy can play or not.

Kaaya just jumped out to me more than any other QB in this class not named Josh Dobbs.

When my final rankings for the 2017 draft come out, you'll see how big a fan of Kaaya I am.

He's a top 15 overall player in this loaded draft IMO.

Yes, the ignorance to troll VN and actually believe the bull**** you shoot is definitely a gift.

Good for Todd Shay. Much like you, there's a reason he isn't drafting players for a living and just talking about it. Just like you, he's nowhere near qualified to be an NFL GM

So here's an analogy. JD and D4H are like a really great restaurant with really ****ty service. You really want to go but can't stand having to deal with the BS that goes with it.

Ate at Bravo's tonight and it pretty much has become just this.....although I think I can now pass on the food.

McShay and Kiper, who you claim don't know anything and just get their info from...

...league scouts and personnel guys, who you claim don't know anything and are terrible at their jobs.

But all these guys who don't know what they're doing supposedly love Josh Dobbs... so YAY!

Still trying to unravel, but I think I agree.....

1. I honestly see him as a runner than passer.
2. He has had minimum QB coaching around him... that's not a knock on him.. but it's like a professional singer. They still go through practices/lessons with vocal coaches. He's just not as sharp and ready as others
3. TN won based on Dobbs ability to scramble not pass it with consistent basis. NFL has gambled with more mobile QBs and it seems like the NFL lost. They are going back to pro style ready QBs. That's why Wentz is far beyond the Mariota , Bridgewater, Winston, etc

I don't care what McShay thinks... I want to know what you think.

No it's not. You think Goff should've been a 1st rounder? He should've been like a 3rd.. but Rams was desperate to take a QB

WTF? You must got me confused with someone else.

I was calling him the biggest bust in the draft last year after he got picked 1st overall. I was NEVER high on him or a fan. I said he was a bust from the jump.

It's obvious that Steelers and Chiefs are looking at a QB. Dobbs could go both teams but I don't think he's their number 1 guy. I think both like Mahomes.
In 2nd round Chiefs pick first at 59th and Steelers 62nd.
That means that ALL the main teams that NEED a QB can have picked up a QB in 1st or their 2nd pick.
well if you throw in Browns, by their 4th pick. 😂

Then why was he sky rocketing all of sudden to number 1 pick? Didnt you say during this time that the GMs, scouts figure out who really has the talent among others?

No. NFL teams are notoriously bad at evaluating who will actually be good.

What I said was DRAFT POSITION only becomes accurate at this point. I was arguing with the likes of KBVol months ago when he kept citing internet sites that had Dobbs going in the 6th-7th round. I said those sites have no clue what they are talking about. I also said neither do Todd McShay and Mel Kiper at this point in the process. I said that we wouldn't know Dobbs true DRAFT POSITION until mid-April because it is only at that point that NFL teams actually complete their evaluations on players.

Contrary to what some people think, NFL front office execs and coaches only start looking at draft prospects in January-February around the time of the senior bowl and combine. Before that point, individual player's draft stock is pure conjecture (especially those like Dobbs that don't come with much hype surrounding them). Dobbs stock didn't really rise during this process. Its where it was always supposed to be. The guys who do mock drafts and rankings on websites just didn't know it yet.

It has to do with off-season trades and FA market too. No one had a clue that Romo bailed out of Houston and Lynch would come out of retirement. Everybody knows that early mock drafts are BS. I mean Cutler could all of sudden go to a team. That would shake things up for sure.
If all this post was too brag about how "you knew that Dobbs stock would rise " before everyone else... well that's dumb.

Yeah, he was really held back while he led the team in both passing and rushing.

Keep listening to MSESPN, though
