Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

BW the problem with Watson is that he has No communication skills and has NEVER had to control a huddle. I was watching him in that Gruden camp and my thought was "the huddle is going eat this kid alive".

Ask yourself a couple of questions.

What QB would be a better choice then Dobbs?

Then ask yourself why you hate Dobbs so much.

He is the best, most ready QB prospect.

1. Deshaun Watson
2. Love Josh Dobbs, he's simply not worthy of being a first round pick, let alone the #1 pick
3. It's a very poor overall qb draft class, but no he's not.

It doesn't take an amazing orator to read a play off of your wristband.

Don't let this Dobbs talk distract you from the fact that if Jalen Hurd had a brain, he'd be in the talks of first-second round right now. Today or tomorrow would have been his day. I can't wrap my head around it. Amazing.

I have deep reservations about this observation given Hurd apparently isn't even going to be entering the draft at the RB position at all.

You're certifiably insane. Did you notice how Watson commanded the actual game in the last 2 National title games vs the best defenses in the country?

Btw, neither Dobbs nor anybody else outside of maybe Peterman at Pitt worked from a huddle in college. You're on bath salts.

we have a difference of opinion there.

He's counting the pregame team huddle as Dobbs working from the huddle. When you're as divorced from reality as he is, what's the difference?

It evidently does for one guy who never worked from the huddle in college (Watson) but not for another guy who never worked from a huddle in college (Dobbs).

Keep in mind, DD is the guy who insisted in Jones' 3rd and 4th seasons that he couldn't be expected to win because all he had in his roster was a boatload of freshmen with no experience. Ask him now, he'll tell you.

What is it about what he laid out that you disagree with? Dobbs didn't huddle any more throughout his college career than Watson did. Dobbs may be a better "communicator" than Watson, but calling plays doesn't require an impressive level of skill.

No, I have an informed opinion that's based on the reality of past events. You otoh have an opinion based on pulling stuff out of your arse that have no basis in truth. Big difference.

To jog your memory....Watson's last 2 title game performances vs the best team/defense (Alabama) in the country.....66-103, 825 yards passing, 7 touchdowns, 1 interception.....scored 37.5 points per game vs Bama. I call that controlling or "commanding" the game.

Dobbs is passionate, matter of fact, confident, takes charge, and controls a conversation. Watson has a communications degree but he was quiet, reserved, unsure, had a lot to learn . You should go watch the two in the huddle in that Gruden camp. The difference was obvious. Dobbs is a get the job done guy, Watson is much more reserved. I have some more stuff to do but I'll be back later. You guys should maybe start a draft thread in the NFL section.

You're nuts and you're discussing crap/a subjective opinion that has no bearing on anything relevant here.

With the amount of film and data available on players, if anybody is drafting based off of the gruden qb camp they need to be fired immediately.

Hindsight is 20 20 but this time last year, we were all pounding the table on his draft potential

Actually a lot were already questioning his sub-5yds per carry and near total dearth of "splash" rushing plays.

Again I think it's really telling that even he thinks his best shot at the next level isn't running out of the backfield.

The Gruden camp bit is a television show. It's entertainment. No NFL franchise is basing any decision on anything that happens on that show.

Dobbs is a get the job done guy, Watson is much more reserved.

And yet, Watson actually, you know, got the job done. Strange how that worked out.

At the same time I can't take his or the people around hims decision making seriously to be honest. So that has no impact on my opinion on that.

Well, here is the deal, neither you or I have been around these guys or in the huddle with these guys, all we have to go on is what we see and hear, but apparently I'm not the only one who feels that way as I heard a few guys saying it in a round table discussion on NFL network yesterday as well. As far as getting it done, lets go through the list of "getting it done" at the college level that didn't translate to the NFL shall we?
