Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

The problem is there is NO number one pick in this draft IMO. garrett is the best athlete but not the best player, there are teams in the top ten that ARE going to take QB's. If you need the most important player on your team and you have the number one pick and you're taking a risk on your career adn millions of dollars, you take a QB. I swear there would not be this much definitive talk about Trubisky unless it was a smokescreen. There is a hell'a good chance the Browns take the QB that they loved in person... Dobbs. Not say'n but the way this is going down...I'm say'n.

this is all an attempt to deflect attention.

cleveland does not want to trade up, and they want garrett first, and MT at 12.

everything else going on the past 2-3 days is maneuvering to see if someone will take some bati....any bait to force a trade.

there's absolutely no way anyone, trade or no, takes any of these qb's 1st overall.

epic. fail. if they do.

I'm saying ANYTHING can happen that has as much chance of happening as anything at this point.

Yeah, no, that's not going to happen. The odds that the Browns will take Dobbs 1st overall are not even remotely the same as the odds that they will take Garrett.

If the Browns were to do something as monumentally boneheaded as taking Dobbs 1st overall, it might literally be the worst pick in Draft history. And I don't say that because I don't think Dobbs can be a good player, but because he'd still be there later, and the Browns would be pissing away the pick when they have so many other needs to fill.

Don't let this Dobbs talk distract you from the fact that if Jalen Hurd had a brain, he'd be in the talks of first-second round right now. Today or tomorrow would have been his day. I can't wrap my head around it. Amazing.

If Hurd had played out the season at the same pace he was on prior to his hissy fit, he'd be a sixth rounder at best.

Guys, I'm an Ohio guy who's been eating all the draft information I can and am on social media. There is a tornado of craziness in Cleveland today. It's going beyond anything I've ever seen. The insiders are saying Trubisky and McCaffery at 12. That is LIGHTING UP Cleveland fans. There are people losing their minds on air. There is a HELL'A good chance Dobbs gets picked 1 and that's not a lie.

Wait up dude. Are actually telling us there's a good chance that Josh Dobbs is gonna be the #1 overall pick?? Lol. Just quit it. It may not be a lie, but it's stupid as hell.

I disagree. He'd be second to third round and sixth at worst depending on his combine, which he might have excelled. But he's not all up there so he's undraftable to me

I'm just stating facts. It is what it is.

Ok. So we got you on record saying it's a fact that there's a great chance that Josh Dobbs will be the #1 overall pick.

Sadly, this ish lines up perfectly with the illogical, ridiculous sum of all your posts on VN. Not surprised this is coming from you. Hell, NOT EVEN D4H is willing to go this far.

Those are the poibities. They are in front of you. Personally, if I were the Browns I would take adobes over Garrett, and Trubisky has to work on his delivery and already having problems handling the pressure. You won't have those issues with Dobbs. I' go DOBBS (this years Prescott) and McCaffery as a scoring powerhouse combo and then stock the D with the rest of the picks in this very DEEP D draft. Makes the most sense. I'm not making the picks, but that is the possibility. I'm going to have to move to a laptop to keep doing this though.

He was the worst starting running back in the SEC, and bottom 10 in the entire nation. He wasn't going in the first two days. I say sixth at best because someone might have taken a flier on him based on potential, but there's a very legit chance he'd have gone undrafted. His production declined each year he played despite the talent around him getting better, and he was literally awful prior to quitting last year. There is a reason he is no longer trying to make it as a running back.

That's like saying it's a possibility that the Browns forgo their #1 pick and not make a selection

Good Lord. Browns fans are as clueless as their ownership/management team. There is nothing new in the misinformation campaigns that teams are undertaking. It happens every year.

worst? ouch lol.

you've been paying too much attention to mock drafts and social media.

there's a reality all these teams are living in, and all this crap that's been floating around the last 2-3 days isn't it.

the browns will select MG 1st. the 49ers nor the jets are going to take a qb that high. MT will be there at 12.

the only way that changes is if some fool gets an itchy trigger finger and makes an asinine trade to move up.

there's been scuttlebut around about the panthers trading up ahead of JAX to get LF, again, that would be stupid. the scuttlebut about the browns trading up ahead of the jets, again, stupid.

draft is too deep, and i'd force someone's hand and say, 'go ahead, pick a qb at 2, 5 or 6...dare ya'.

Was just gonna post this, although you said it much nicer than I was gonna.

Let's look at this as facts. There are four or five things that CAN happen at number one.

1: Garrett

2: Trubisky

3: Jamal Adams (a lot of folks saying he is a better football player and fit)

4: Dobbs

5: Trade the pick for more picks

They don't need more picks, and they need a QB.

The way I see it, that gives Dobbs about a 25% chance of going #1 over all.

LMAO at #4. Cleveland is already the worst franchise in the NFL. If they take Dobbs #1 (not going to happen - only their UT-loving fans are this delusional) they become the biggest laughing stock in professional sports history.

not sure how the Hurd deal is relevant at this point, but this draft has proven one thing, this isn't the year to come out early for a RB unless you're graded 1st round talent. and even then, that may mean you go to the 2nd, just because of #'s.

Hurd would not be graded a 1st round talent in this year's draft.

and i think it does say something that he's not even going to play the position at Baylor.

Ask yourself a couple of questions.

What QB would be a better choice then Dobbs?

Then ask yourself why you hate Dobbs so much.

He is the best, most ready QB prospect.

these questions don't do what you think they do.

the answer to your first question....all of them? none of them? who knows. but you could definitely make the case that Trubisky, Mahomes and Watson would all be selected before Dobbs. after that, it gets debatable.

Seeing reality is not hating Dobbs. He is in the top 5 of my favorite players every to put on Orange

Personally, I'm taking Watson. Watson's only drawback is that he throws too many picks. Just about every other part of his game is superior to Dobbs. And Dobbs throws more picks than he should, so that comparison doesn't help too much, anyway.

But, Watson is the only QB that I'd be willing to take in the latter 3rd of the 1st round. I'm not taking anyone else before the 2nd. That's not a general knock on Dobbs, whom I actually like a little less than Mahomes, but a little more than Trubisky and way more than Kizer.
