I love how this has gone from "Dobbs is a lock for the first round, he was have an amazing year and turn scouts heads....you wait and see guys" to "He could be a 2nd or 3rd round pick". The hyperbole in this has been amazing to watch

He can't hit a screen pass 7 out of 10 times no way he will be a impact player in the NFL a team might keep him around to run the other teams offense during game week he can't play in the NFL, he was 1 play from being benched in the dawg game in 15 and he would have never started a game coach Jones was 1 play from pulling the trigger he can't throw the ball down field its that simple.

What it means is he thinks there is little drop from the other guys to Dobbs. He has Dobbs 4th I believe. He also said he would rather have Kamara in 2 than Mixon in 4. He means he thinks Dobbs is a better value in 2 than Watson, Mitch, or PM are in 1. Significant praise from McShay.

I actually watched NFL Insiders on ESPN earlier today and Todd McShay said he would draft Josh Dobbs in the 2nd round straight up. There was no talk about any other QBs. They were actually discussing whether Josh could be the next Dak Prescott. Also Mark Dominik (former GM of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) said Dobbs would go higher in the draft than most expect and compared his release and passing to Dak Prescott coming out of college.

And if you watch ESPN right now they have a draft simulation show on and Dobbs is rated as a 2nd rounder on the Big Board and as the 5th overall QB.

Whether you like it or not, according to Todd McShay, Josh Dobbs is a second round player in terms of value.

This QB class is bad. Really bad. If I was a GM, I wouldn't touch the position. Mike Glennon got paid a lot for a reason.

Whatever. I think this is an average class.

There are 2 franchise caliber starters in Josh Dobbs and Brad Kaaya.

And a whole bunch of developmental guys who could be spot starters and backups.

This is a better class than the media has sold it as.

Can you point me to the games that formed your evaluation of Kaaya? I only watched maybe 3 of his games in 2016 and wasn't overly impressed.

App State was probably the game I watched live that impressed me the most. Now you might say that's App State so what? But what I look for are not numbers. Its attributes. What can you do at a high level and is that something that will translate to the NFL. The attribute Kaaya shows on tape that I believe translates to the NFL and will make him a very good QB is his accuracy, timing, and anticipation. He's got the best accuracy of any QB in the draft. He showed that on tape and in shorts throwing at the combine. He also throws with the best timing and anticipation of any QB in this class. And that is necessary for him to do since he doesn't have great arm strength. But then again neither did Peyton Manning. He's also not mobile. But neither was Peyton Manning. What he struggles most with is pressure. He's one of the poorest QBs in this class when he it comes to throwing under pressure.

In addition to what I see on tape, what makes him special in my eyes is his makeup. He's very cerebral. The type of QB that will know what everyone on the field is doing and pick apart the defense with his mind. He also played in a pro style offense and if you watched Gruden's QB Camp he has the NFL verbage down. He fits the profile of the type of guy that suceeds playing QB in the NFL.

Brad Kaaya will not turn around a frachise by himself. He's not an Aaron Rodgers type who can dominate behind a subpar offensive line and with below average skill players. Kaaya (like most QBs) needs a good offensive line and good skill position players to perform at a high level. But if you put him on a team like the Minnesota Vikings or Houston Texans, I think he could lead them to the playoffs as early as next season.

He's a high 1st Round caliber QB imo and I'm shocked he's gotten such little attention through this entire process.

Like I said this gift is hard to explain. It doesn't take long for me to tell whether a guy can play or not.

Kaaya just jumped out to me more than any other QB in this class not named Josh Dobbs.

When my final rankings for the 2017 draft come out, you'll see how big a fan of Kaaya I am.

He's a top 15 overall player in this loaded draft IMO.

Neither of them are franchise caliber starters right now. Otherwise they'd be first rounders. Nobody in this draft deserves a first round grade.

You just barfed up every football cliche ever uttered.

Wonder if the NFL has caught on to the attributes angle. Kaaya was #1 in many mock drafts heading into the season, his attributes underwhelmed.

*Note for the insider, the Vikings Oline is atrocious.

Dak Prescott went in the 4th round in 2016 and was a day 1 starter. Derek Carr went in the 2nd round in 2014 and was a day 1 starter. Russell Wilson went in the 3rd round in 2012 and was a day 1 starter.

Just because no one in the NFL believes in you doesn't mean you aren't a franchise caliber QB on day 1.

I believe Josh Dobbs and Brad Kaaya carry on the mantle of what Wilson, Carr, and Prescott have done as mid-round picks who turned out to be franchise QBs from the jump.

I know. Kaaya is the prototypical NFL pocket passer. He fits the bill of every cliche NFL teams typically use when trying to evaluate a QB.

I have no idea why he's not more highly thought of.

NFL teams were right to like him before the season. I don't know why they bailed on him. They might be over thinking this because Kaaya is a way better prospect than Jared Goff coming out and he went #1 overall.
