Josh Dobbs (merged)

What does "just as better" mean?

Also if you mean why can't he be on an NFL roster, I don't think anyone would be shocked if he stayed in the NFL a while as a backup, likely 3rd string. I mean Matt Simms stuck around as 3rd string and practice squad member from 2012 through last season.

Josh Dobbs isn't the son of Phil Simms.

D4H must be in hiding... Crying in a dark room...

Nope. How many times do I have to tell you that I have absolute confidence in Josh Dobbs?

There has literally never been a football prospect I have had more confidence in when it comes to succeeding in the NFL. Josh Dobbs is destined to be a SUPERSTAR. And destiny is something we can't stop even if we try.

Patience caterpillar. Camp hasn't even started. I'll wait until preseason when Dobbs is the talk of the NFL to tell you so.

Josh Dobbs will be the greatest player in NFL history. That legend starts this year. Strap in cause it's gonna be a fun ride.

Welcome back. It's now or never with Dobbs and the Steelers.

Steelers QB Joshua Dobbs fighting for roster spot | TribLIVE

Joshua Dobbs likely showcasing his skills for the rest of league in the preseason – ProFootballTalk

There's obviously camp and preseason but at this point in the conversation Dobbs appears to be the "odd man out" in most estimations.

And at this time last year people were saying Alvin Kamara would be 3rd on the depth chart after Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson. By the end of the year Alvin was ranked the 3rd best RB in the NFL by his peers and a 2nd team All-Pro.

Who cares what the talk is right now? The play on the field will decide what happens.

And I'm telling you right now Josh Dobbs will rip apart the NFL this year. He rise to legendary status begins this fall.

My goodness. I love Dobbs just like everyone else, but this obsession is beyond bizarre and downright ridiculous. Cut the crap and realize he will not go down as the greatest ever.

Dobbs as a low risk gamble that likely at best they considered a project. Drafting Rudolph it's pretty clear Dobbs is not in their long term plans as a starter, but it may turn out Rudoph isn't either.

Dobbs was a 4th rounder. Rudolph was a 3rd rounder.

Why are y'all acting like he was a 1st round pick that they invested a lot in? If they thought Rudolph was the answer, they wouldn't have passed on him twice. All the Steelers did was increase their odds by drafting another mid-round QB. Sorta like the Patriots a few years ago when they drafted Garropolo and Brisett in back to back years. And the Giants the last 2 years with Webb and Lauletta.

Dobbs has just as much a chance as Rudolph to be the heir apparent. Reading this situation otherwise is being dumb.

His passing instincts and ability to read defenses was very bad in college.

And yet he led the SEC in QB rating as a senior as well as leading Tennessee to a school record for points scored.

You guys are gonna look so silly in a few months for throwing out these hot takes.

Josh Dobbs will be a SUPERSTAR this fall. Just wait on it.

And he will surpass all expectations with flying colors.

I'm actually kinda glad expectations are so low for him. With everyone expecting him to get cut, they won't know what hits them when he's looking like the best QB on the team during preseason.

Can't wait to watch preseason this year cause it's gonna be the Josh Dobbs show.

The problem is it seems like many of you are actively rooting for him to fail. Y'all aren't just saying you think he isn't a starter.

That was a very bad QB year in the SEC... Congrats to Dobbs on being the tallest midget.

I remember Dobbs as an amazing elusive runner who threw a decent deep ball. He also missed open receivers often and missed intermediate throws.

Few notes:

1: Note I, I made the caveat about how there's still camp and preseason to go.

2: You have a poor grasp on the transitive property in this context.

3: You've said a LOT of things...their correlation with what has actually occurred is (to be charitable) quite poor.

Dobbs also had to deal with the worst coach of all-time and the worst offensive line in D1 his entire tenure at UT.

Did you forget how bad we were offensively last year? Josh Dobbs was the only reason Tennessee was competitive from 2015 to 2016. He carried this program on his back. You guys will learn soon enough that you should have appreciated him more.

Just watch what he does in the NFL.

Dooley was worse than CBJ

When you see how dominant Dobbs, Kamara, and Sutton are in the NFL you will rethink that.

Our 2016 team will be viewed as one of the most underachieving college teams of all-time in short order after our guys take over the NFL.

While its great that Josh has been able to live a dream being on an NFL team I think he would be benefiting both himself and the rest of us by moving onto working for NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing or Bigelow Aerospace and the future of space travel and engineering.

It would be a shame for his mind to be wasted playing football. IMO

And Dooley doesn’t LAND a Dobbs or Kamara. Didn’t offer Dobbs and wasn’t even a factor for Kamara...so WORSE.

Faux outrage.

Dobbs was a very good QB in college and proved to be just as good a student and person. If he doesn't become a starter or even gets cuts and never takes a meaningful snap that doesn't change what he did here as a player or person.

You can think hes not an NFL QB and will get cut eventually and note all those things above. Doesn't mean I'm rooting for it.

How is it faux outrage? If you are not doing it I am obviously not talking about you so why even comment?

Many here are rooting for him to fail and gloating about his spot maybe being taken. Its sad and anyone doing it is a loser.

I saw a pre-draft report that Steelers coaches were enamored with Mason Rudolph and relayed it on the board...boom! D4H searched wide and far for the first obscure writer who opined that the Steelers weren’t looking to add a QB and rode his jock like he was the end all be all. They drafted Rudolph. Laughing at that visual comedy doesn’t translate to wishing ill will to Dobbs...it’s laughing at his over the top champion. I’ve seen two or three posters declare failure to his career based on ridiculous presumptions. That’s THEIR issue. They’re the minority...quit asserting otherwise to preach your narrative. :hi:

I’d love to see Dobbs be who D4H claims. But if I play scout, I don’t see many things to write home about for Dobbs’ on the field talent. He’s a rocket scientist, that doesn’t mean he’s a qb. That said, he’s a fantastic ambassador for the university.

Butchie mind your business sometime. If you are not of the guys gloating why are you so concerned? There are multiple posters gloating and obviously wishing Dobbs fails. if that isn't you then great.

Plenty of posters are rooting against him. Not "one or two" like you are trying to frame it. I never gave a percentage or said that MOST posters are acting like that. The ones doing it are a bunch of losers.

As far as Rudolph, him and Dobbs are one round and one year apart. Nothing is written in stone and I wouldn't write Dobbs off just yet.

You seem to be stressing that there’s a plurality (“plenty”) of posters “rooting against Dobbs” and when you go off half-cocked it’s my job to smack you with a newspaper. :) Don’t see how this is any more YOUR business than mine. Hence can the “concern”. :yu:

As far as Rudolph and Dobbs, Mason ain’t going anywhere in his rookie year...wouldn’t guarantee the same for Dobbs. It’s a keep Landry or Dobbs scenario and it’s far from certain.
