Josh Dobbs (merged)

I just hope this sentiment is remembered in a few months.

What I hate is revisionist history. I better not hear ya'll saying you knew all along Dobbs would be a star in the NFL the way ya'll did with Alvin Kamara last year.

I want it remembered that none of you think Dobbs can even play in the NFL, let alone become a star. Please remember comments like this one.

You're the king of revisionist history on here. And for the record AGAIN, many people said AK could be a star in the NFL, the difference is you using your typical childish hyperbole "best in the league", "lock for the HoF", "best RB in the game" .. he wasn't the best back in the league and no one is a lock or a surefire HoFer so there, you were wrong again. Great first season, of course and has always had the talent and if you try to tell me you were the only one calling that, you're lying.

Thanks for admitting that I am winning this debate.

Childishly repeating yourself over and over again is a sign of defeat.

Once again....

How many Hall of Fame QBs have ever been cut from a team?

I know Kurt Warner was one, but that roster was loaded with talented QBs

Exactly. The Warner thing has been brought up but that would have been a tough QB room for a young QB to break into.

Cris Carter but I think that was more off the field issues than on.

Yeah, if you go beyond QBs I'm sure there are several more.

You could also add Warren Moon. He wasn't cut but also wasn't drafted and instead played 6 seasons in the CFL and then signed with the Oilers, who won the bidding war.

Moon's CFL career is pretty amazing. In 6 seasons, he lead the Edmonton Eskimos to 5 straight Grey Cup championships and went 9/10 in postseason games.

Moon could sling it, that is for sure.

Now I want to preface this by saying what happens in camp/preseason will carry great weight but this is one of the more blunt "Dobbs isn't 'that' guy" pieces I've seen from the Steeler side of the equation.

Josh Dobbs' career won't end with being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers

The gap between what the overwelming majority of critics that are way more in the know are saying and what D4H is saying makes the Grand Canyon look like a ditch.

I know, I know..."Tom Brady, Kurt Warner" and I guess now that we've pointed them out for him, he'll add "Johnny Unitas, Warren Moon".

You see that's ya'lls problem. You guys are like sheep. There are authority figures out there and you'll believe anything they say. I remember this happening last year during the senior bowl and the lead up to the draft. When the people in the know were hyping up Dobbs (Todd McShay even said he might be drafted in the late 1st round) last year, I noticed that there was more optimism among the posters on this site. I was seeing less and less of posts saying Dobbs would never play in the NFL and was trash.

You guys are basically like sheep. You follow whatever the media talking heads say. I actually think for myself. I don't just sway in whatever direction the media is going.

And that is why you are generally wrong. Because your opinions differ from the actual experts.

I have no real opinion on whether he could theoretically play somewhere in the NFL, because God knows that the state of QB play is abysmal. But I do know that for PIT to turn around only a year later and draft another QB in the 3rd round means that the Steelers don't think he's any good, and who knows what the path to the starting job will look like at whatever team picks him up next to compete for their backup job. It's not that I think he's worse than a lot of the stiffs who are eventually pressed into service, it's just that it's a rough job market for marginal QBs.

You're gonna find out pretty soon that these "experts" have no idea what they're talking about and that I know better.

Josh Allen will be a million times better than Baker Mayfield. And Josh Dobbs will be a million times better than Mason Rudolph.

Those are two predictions where I am going against the so-called experts. Watch me be right and those "experts" be wrong.

No we're not

Josh Allen will be a million times better than Baker Mayfield. And Josh Dobbs will be a million times better than Mason Rudolph.

Neither of these will happen and you have no QB evaluating track record to speak of to make us think that you would be right and these guys who get paid to do this (and for good reason) would be wrong.

Again, not going to happen. You point to a few outliers where experts were "wrong" (picks happen when they do for a host of reasons that you and the rest of us are not privy to so they may not have been "wrong" just because they weren't picked when you think they should like 75 guys in the first round). Problem is, they are outliers because percentage wise, they have a way better track record at evaluating talent than you ever will.

This is catastrophic garbage. From what I've seen people are citing examples that support what they already believe, not being led. (and this tactic includes you there hoss, don't make me go find examples because you know damn well you've done the same, nobody chases validation like you do)

You are pursuing a singular and wildly biased outcome and we all (you especially) know that's the case. Hate to break it to you slick but the crushing majority of the football world neither knows nor cares who you are or what you say and yes, are forming their opinions about Dobbs based on their own independent observations. They could be wrong and you end up right. Hell, that'd be my preference. One of the school's best ever ambassadors as a student/athlete balling out in the league? What's not to like? That doesn't change what the current evidence supports...and that's pretty iffy regarding Dobbs with the Steelers.

My lord this is getting too easy.

And then there were posters like me who said that Dobbs wasn't going to sniff the first round. Guess who turned out to be right?

For someone who says he hates revisionist history, he sure practices it a lot. To act like there was some huge number of posters that agreed with him about Dobbs' NFL career is straight up made up bs.

Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child? :good!:

True. And most people agree with you on that. My point was the discussion shifted from whether Dobbs could even play in the league or be drafted to how good could he be.

Before the senior bowl most were talking about him having to change positions. There was mention of Terrell Pryor. After the senior bowl and pro day he was being compared to Dak Prescott and whether he could be a starter in the NFL.

It's that shift in talk I was talking about.

My lord this is getting too easy.

I'm the most consistent poster on here. I've never practiced any revisionist history.

My consistency is one of the main reasons I'm under attack so much from you guys. It's because I stand by my convictions. Look no further than my consistent belief in Dobbs being a superstar in the NFL. As well not believing in Jared Goff and Joey Bosa despite some early statistical success.

I'm the most consistent poster on this site.
