Josh Dobbs (merged)

1. His college tape and production - I've posted many times the huge difference in Tennessee's winning percentage and offensive production when Dobbs played for Butch Jones versus when he wasn't there. With Dobbs in 2016, Tennessee was the #1 offense in the SEC in terms of offensive TDs and he set a school record for TDs in a season as well as leading Tennessee to a school reocrd for points in a season. Without Dobbs in 2017, Tennessee fell to last place in the SEC in scoring and was among the worst in the entire nation. The offense went for weeks without scoring a TD. In terms of wins, with Dobbs, Tennessee was competitive with every team they played outside of Alabama in his 3 years as a starter. Without Dobbs in 2017, Tennessee had the worst record in school history and was blown out multiple times.

1. Says College stats are completely irrelevant.

2. Bases his “college tape” evaluation completely on stats...

College stats in a vacuum are irrelevant. If you look at my post those numbers were put in context. As in how Tennessee performed with Dobbs versus without Dobbs.

I didn't just post his passing and rushing yards or TDs without taking into account the coach he played for, the offense he played under, the players he played with, and the players he played against. Its that lack of context when people use stats I object to. Not when someone points out how a team fares with a player versus without them.

Butch's offense with Dobbs vs without Dobbs, had nothing to do with Dobbs' QB abilities, but rather his purely athletic ability to run out of busted plays from behind a terrible offensive line.

You willfully fail to acknowledge this fact, in spite of literally hours of game film showing as much, because you have fully invested yourself in the idea that you can "see greatness" in players, and have mistakenly staked the veracity of that ability on Dobbs being much more than he actually is.

Dobbs was a great runner in college but I don’t think he would look as fast in the nfl and definitely wouldn’t be able to break as many tackles

I don’t think he can sling it for 400 and 4 touchdowns like Watson was able too either

In about 7 months, people will be saying that Josh Dobbs had the season in 2018 that people thought Deshaun Watson was going to have.

Watson is a poor man's Dobbs. In a few years, it'll be considered hilarious that people actually thought Watson was better than Dobbs.

Deshaun Watson is a college legend. His NFL career will never reach those heights because of his lack of durability. Josh Dobbs on the other hand will go down as the GREATEST player in NFL history. Just remember I've been saying this from the start. I want this to be clear to everyone so that in a few years when people start calling Dobbs the GOAT that ya'll will remember I was way ahead of the curve.

Unlike you guys, I will admit I am wrong if the results on the field don't match my expectations.

I said Alvin Kamara would be a SUPERSTAR in the NFL last year. Many didn't believe it. Now you guys act like that was so obvious now that Alvin is what I said he would be.

I expect Dobbs to be even better than Alvin. If he isn't, then you don't even need to call me out on it. I will admit it. Its just been his rookie year thus far. Have some patience. The best QBs in NFL history didn't really explode until Year 2.

So far for next season you have said Kamara will be a leading MVP candidate, Rodgers will win MVP, and that Dobbs will have possibly the greatest season ever. Impressive.

As I acquire more information, my projections become more and more accurate. The reason Rodgers and the Packers have gone up in my eyes is because I love what they did in the draft and free agency.

Here are my views right now on the 3 players you mentioned:

1. Aaron Rodgers and Josh Dobbs will be the leading MVP candidates in 2018.
2. The Packers and Steelers will have the 2 best records in the NFL next year.
3. Alvin Kamara will be the Offensive Player of the Year.

"Poor man's Dobbs" ... that's rich right there. Considering Dobbs passing skills aren't in the same league as Watson's.

Great runner with mid-level passing skills and decent pocket presence at best becomes GOAT. Got it ... we'll put you down on that list .. its a short one to say the least but you're on it.

Dobbs is a much better passer than Deshaun Watson. Strong arm and better accuracy. He's also taller, faster, and more athletic.

Ya'll find out this year that I'm right. Just as you all found out last year I was right when I said before the draft that Alvin Kamara was better than Leonard Fournette, Dalvin Cook, and Christian McCaffrey.

Just remember where you heard this first: people will be saying this fall that Josh Dobbs is having the MVP season people thought Deshaun Watson would have. Just like last year Alvin Kamara had the impact running and receiving that people thought Chrisitian McCaffrey would have.

You can keep doubling-down on this ridiculousness, all you want, but it still won't make this statement to be true. Reality doesn't support any of your statements about Josh Dobbs.

Couldn't have forseen Carmelo Anthony falling off like he did.

He was not a big time player anymore so that was not a big 3.

My other finals pick looks pretty good right now though. Boston Celtics look set to represent the East.

It took you until this year to figure out Melo was a shell of himself?

The first bolded statement alone disqualifies you from evaluating anyone .. EVER! Dobbs is not nor ever was a better passer than Deshaun Watson. In fact, you need your eyes tested if your "eye test" is telling you this. It's simply not true. You have no idea what you're looking at if you think so.

The second part is where we could probably find something similar in about a 1,000 other posts. But you keep neglecting that MANY said in that offense that Alvin could be a difference maker, a very good player, a weapon on offense, etc. YOU were the only one claiming HoF status after half a season which is absurd and something only a fan boy kid would do. Let him get some years in before going to that point of a "prediction." I have been saying the guy is a damn good players since Norcross so don't act like you were on some exclusive list. As well, calling him better than those guys is discounting the fact that each one is used in a different fashion outside of maybe McCaffery.

Correct:
Alvin Kamara

Incorrect (with your prediction):
Kelvin Taylor (solid starter)
Kevin Hogan (solid starter)
Brad Kaaya (solid starter)
Joey Bosa (bust)
Jared Goff (bust)
Corey Davis (rookie of the year)
—This one is strange by the way. How did you pick anyone to beat out your man crush for ROY? Most consistent poster my a**.
Marshon Lattimore (injury bust)
and many more...

All of the players you guessed incorrectly have been in the league as long or longer as Kamara. If you’re going to count him a success story already, you need to admit that you’re 1-for-many.

WRONG. I said that before the draft. I said Alvin Kamara would be the next Marshall Faulk in the NFL. A player who be dominant both as a runner and receiver. I predicted he would have a season where he runs for over 1,000 yards as well getting over 1,000 yards receiving. I also said he would be a future Hall of Famer.

This was all BEFORE the draft. All I did after the season started and Alvin began to dominate was simply repeat what I said before the draft. I offered no new takes on Alvin after the season started that I didn't say BEFORE the draft.

With regard to Dobbs passing, we'll see who needs to have their eyes checked when he's dominating the NFL next season. Josh Dobbs passing ability has always been underrated for some reason. I don't know why. I guess its similar to Alvin's running ability. Before the season last year people doubted whether he could run between the tackles. I thought that was absurd because he showed great balance and running power in college running between the tackles. He just didn't get many touches. Once in the NFL he got more touches and proved to be an amazing runner between the tackles as he led the league in yards after first contact.

In a similar vain, Dobbs passing has been underrated in college because of his poor offensive line, mediocre receivers, and awful coaching staff. Josh Dobbs has great passing ability. His accuracy is underrated and his arm is elite. When he tears the NFL apart this year as a passer you guys will realize I was right once again. Just as I was right about Alvin Kamara last year, I'll be right about Josh Dobbs this year.

What about JuJu Smith-Schuster (Steelers)? I had him rated as the #2 WR in the 2017 draft ahead of almost everyone else and as a surefire 1st rounder when he went in the 2nd round in the real draft. Why are you not putting him in the correct column for me?

How about Dylan Cole (Texans) and Matt Breida (49ers)? I said both would be steals after not getting drafted and they both made an impact as undrafted free agents for their teams.

How about Marcus Maye (Jets), Marcus Williams (Saints), and John Johnson (Rams)? I had all 3 rated as 1st rounders and they all had solid rookie seasons and look to be furture stars.

I could keep going. I have made many predictions. You guys just like to latch onto the few one that haven't turned out to be right. While ignoring all the other ones I have gotten right. The only reason you guys give me credit for Kamara is because he's a Vol and his success cannot be ignored. But I've been right about a lot more than just Alvin. And this is only Year 1. By this time next year, I expect my list of guys I've been right about to grow exponentially.

How about predicting Tennessee to win the National championship the year they went 4-8?

That’s about as clear evidence of stupidity as anyone will see.
