100% agree with your assessment Billy Bob!I'm not trying to be rude towards your post. I realize they are immature grown men. I am for giving most of them a break....their spring break. It should start now. All yesterday showed was how immature and undisciplined they truly are. If CF was a true disciplinarian, he himself would not have wanted Briscoe acting as such, nor would encourage such (and I am not implying that he did). The actions of yesterday are just a carryover from their on field play. Somebody really, IMHO, needs to jerk a knot in their asses.
Decades back when I played hs ball a player wouldnt have dared open his mouth, or even been there. I realize it's a div 1 college team , and a emotional charged situation...I realize they were there to support their coach, but a disciplined player with respect would realize anything he had to add would be irrelevant to the situation at that time and place.can we start a grass roots movement to get Briscoe benched or taken off scholly?
I'd just like to say that I know Josh, and he's a great guy. He's very polite and great to be around. I'm dumbfounded that after 1 image of a guy laughing on the sidelines, you officially know his back story. Calling a guy names for standing up for his coach is unbelievable.
Its fine to laugh on the sidelines but not just after you just choked your a** off and dropped a important pass that hit you right in the hands. It really made it worse when Stephens chewed him out, I like the fire nick shows, we need more of it.
Alright Gaines,
I am new to the volnation website, and have not made any posts or replies yet, until now. Here is the issue I have with Josh Briscoe:
1. Effort This young man does not give his 100% effort on the field. The interception in question that led to his chewing by Stephens and the "smile" was because he did not complete the route he was supposed to run....a 15 yd out pattern. If you "watch the tape" of him and his out pattern, he stopped running once he made his break.
He did not and DOES not go after the ball when it is thrown to him. THAT is why he was chewed out by the Sophomore and deserved it.
2. He's a drive killer. In the last two games, Briscoe has been on the receiving end of third down passes that, had he only gone forward and knocked some heads around, would have led to 1st downs. The distance in question for him to get the 1st down is negligible for a college athlete...he can move the corner back two feet and get that first down.
3.Maturity Briscoe's comments at the press conference were neither appropriate for the time or place. That's a question to be delivered in private to the AD where they can look eye to eye as men. It was cowardly to do that in front of the press and coach Fulmer, and of course immature.
On the field and off the field I am not impressed with Josh Briscoe. To defend him by simply playing "devils advocate" without having any factual ground to stand on is just as poor a choice by you as it was for Briscoe to open his mouth in that press conference.
Briscoe's a player. He's there every day busting his tail and risking his body for the University of Tennessee. You guys are fans who might tune in on Saturdays and risk carpal tunnel blogging on a message board. What on God's green earth makes you think you're better able to comment than him?
