Is Crompton the worst starting qb in UT history? I'm talking someone filling in for 1 or 2 games, but a season long starter. I've only been keeping up with the Vols since the mid 70s but I can't think of one who has performed this poorly on such a consistent basis.
WKU - Checking down to receivers, take what was given to him ( I realize this was a weak D)
UCLA - Staring down receivers, holding the ball way too long, and then trying to force it.....
Dont' know what changed, dont' really care. We need someone who doesn't fold under pressure. I would love to see JC succeed, but this situation isn't going to get any better for him.
That must have been humiliating for Stephens to sit on the bench and watch that train wreck.... :banghead2:
OK. It was a long ride home, so I had an opportunity to think and reflect. I have been watching football for over 40 years and in all of that time I can unequivocally say that Crompton is the worst QB that I have ever seen .. at any time and at any level (pee wee, high school, college, pros, etc.). He is a waste of a scholarship. He is a waste of a roster spot. He is a waste of bench/sideline space.
On a personal level, he might be a nice guy. I wish him a long and happy life. But I never want to see him under center. I never want to see him on a football field. I never want to see him in a Tennessee football uniform again.
if I were Stephens I would be more embarrassed I couldn't beat out that guy for the job. Everyone watching that game had to be wondering how bad the 2nd team guy was since JC was still in there
So many players were open and he throws into triple coverage. Last play of the game (for our offense) he throws a ball into the ground not even close to Gerald Jones' feet and he then walks across the field and proceeds to tell GJ that he didn't run the right route. It's ridiculous.
