Anybody?

How can you blame Kiffin for 3 interceptions. The only mistake Kiffin made is not benching Crompton on his 2nd pick. He is a joke. The worst QB the Vols have ever have.

This is two coaching staffs in a row who believe Crompton is the best QB on our squad, sad but I'm sure they're right. Stephens didn't do anything last season to show he was better or even as good as Crompton. The last coaching staff just let us down, going four years in a row without recruiting a legitimate big-time college QB, now we're paying the price.

I hate to pile on the kid, but i called it on a post last week on this site after the WKU game. It was obvious to me how much more relaxed Nick Stephens was on his only 2 attempts @WKU
CLK is in a pickle now. He has lost confidence in Crompton as displayed by the second half play calling. Now he will either have to start Crompton again against the gators ( dear lord help us) , or start NS with virtually no playing time under his belt at the swamp.
I thought that there was no doubt he would put Stephens in after halftime, but the reluctance to do so reminded me of Fulmer.
I wish with all my heart that Crompton was the man.
He's not.
Time to move on coach.

Throwing the ball in the dirt on 4th down..................my GOD at least throw it up for grabs. Crompton was the biggest mistake last season and is on the verge of screwing up another. I have never liked him from the beggining. Yeah, maybe sometimes he is put in bad situations, but it is his decision wether to throw the ball away, or make horrible passes like he normally does.

Thats a very accurate post my friend

time for Reaves and Chaney to earn their money

they've got to get Crompton thinking positive thoughts

I am still a huge Kiffin Fan, but more of the same up the middl is our only coaching mistake and it could have cost us the game.

Montario Hardesty rush for 7 yards to the UCLA 47. 19 13
(Inside the end, full back block)

2nd and 3 at UCLA 47 Jonathan Crompton pass complete to Bryce Brown for 2 yards to the UCLA 45.
(that was to the flat and it was a bad pass but Bryce almost made the first down)

3rd and 1 at UCLA 45 Jonathan Crompton rush for 4 yards to the UCLA 41 for a 1ST down.
(now this was a great trick play and I would have been fine with that... this was a quick snap that didn't give D time to prepare)

1st and 10 at UCLA 41 Montario Hardesty rush for 3 yards to the UCLA 38.
(Again inside the D end. )

2nd and 7 at UCLA 38 Montario Hardesty rush for 4 yards to the UCLA 34.
(Straight around the end.)

3rd and 3 at UCLA 34 Montario Hardesty rush for no gain to the UCLA 34.
(PRETY MUCH UP THE MIDDLE)

4th and 2 at UCLA 33 Montario Hardesty rush for 2 yards to the UCLA 31 for a 1ST down.
(PRETY MUCH UP THE MIDDLE)

1st and 10 at UCLA 31 Timeout TENNESSEE, clock 05:05.
1st and 10 at UCLA 31 Montario Hardesty rush for a loss of 2 yards to the UCLA 33.
(UP THE MIDDLE)

2nd and 12 at UCLA 33 Jonathan Crompton pass complete to Quintin Hancock for 26 yards to the UCLA 7 for a 1ST down.
(Crompton's best play all game)

1st and Goal at UCLA 7 Bryce Brown rush for a loss of 1 yard to the UCLA 8.
(UP THE MIDDLE)

2nd and Goal at UCLA 8 Montario Hardesty rush for 5 yards to the UCLA 3.
(TOSS TO THE OUTSIDE)

3rd and Goal at UCLA 3 Bryce Brown rush for 1 yard to the UCLA 2.
(Middle)

4th and Goal at UCLA 2 Montario Hardesty rush for 1 yard to the UCLA 1.
(Middle)

Run this much? YES... good call. Up the middle? Not in the red zone and not with this defense:
Defensive line is looking good for UCLA -- latimes.com

By going to the outside, you repeatedly take out (as much as you can) the interior d lineman when you have good backs. We have four great backs. Yeah, to the outside over and over may be predictive but it worked every time. To me, going up the middle is hardly ever creative. You can still get creative to the outside.

I still think Crompton needs to sit. Maybe give him Florida, but that's it if he doesn't turn it around.

It's time for Nick Stephens. I don't care if he doesn't practice as well. He's more of a gamer than Crompton is.

trick play?? when you need short yardage thats what you do!

Considering he is our starter, it must occur to some that we have no other option. With his track record, if anyone could have proven better and took the job, JC obviously would have made a quick exit to backup. If he is our best we can only cross our fingers he gears up quickly.

Not a bad D they played either. I for one did not expect UCLA to be that competitive for this game.

Forced to go with Crompton. He'll stink it up and then there's no room for anyone to complain when he gets pulled as a Sr. Captain. Then we see Stephens after that.

I actually disagree. The starter should finish the game against a team like Florida, and not have a QB come in cold against this Florida team. Let Stephens have a shot. Crompton proved ineffective and downright miserable with his decision making. Let Stephens try now

This is a valid point. Crompton could not play QB for a high school team right now and it is time to move on. I do not understand running up the middle 2 times from the 3 when we ran well outside and if this staff looked at our games last year our OL could not block a stationary bicycle up the middle.... how many times did we fail on 3rd and 4th and 1 last year and this is pretty much the same OL. Otherwise I think the coaches are doing all they can with an inept QB. Hats off to the Defense.

Anybody?

This is coming from an outside viewer's perspective i belive. The bold is what I think the problem is.
1. He's a smart kid in practice. (problem, UCLA is not WKU. NOT like practice.)

2. He recieved death threats, he deserves to redeme himself. (problem, he can't work out of the pressure!)

3. Lane's play calling was terrible. (Not really, all Crompton had to do was make it work. Didn't happen.)

4. He was so highly recruited! something must be wrong with the coaching! (we just got a entirely new coaching staff and there is still no improvement with him. Suggesting that it's the coaches' faults again is hereby insane!)

5. He beat WKU like Manning would've! (WKU was a pushover period.)

yes crompton left a lot to desire today, but the fical fans who rant and rave i would love to see them do better.point is horrindius play , at least he tried...blame fulmer and cutcliffe as well.
