John Stockton Vs. Larry Bird

That's it, has nothing to do with saying that John Stockton is a top 5 player of all-time, he wasn't even the best player on his team.

As far as Pippen goes, I loved his game, one of my favorite players of all-time but he is nowhere near the top 5 or the top 10.

Malone got more credit because everyone likes scorers, but truthfully they were both Batman. Neither were Robin. Stockton put up numbers that absolutely crush Steve Nash's MVP seasons.

No. They were both Robin. Neither one won a title.

Don't know why you guys hate on Stockton so much... Only reason I can think of is he was better than anyone any of you can think of... Dude was a baller

I can think of many players who were better.

Pistol Pete.
The Logo.
Air.
Wilt.
Bird.
Russell.
Magic.
Isiah.
Duncan.
Shaq.
Kobe.
Dr. J.
Hakeem.
Moses.
Gervin.
Oscar.
Sir Charles.

Just to name a few.

I don't think you can be "Robin" if you have an MVP trophy. If the top player in the league is Robin then what the hell are we watching?

You mean the one he stole from Jordan and won in a 50 game lockout season?

Yeah, those are solid MVP awards.

Wait, he beat MJ in an MVP race and you don't think that gives it more value? To even make it a close MVP race with MJ means you are not Robin, and he won MVP (twice). 27, 10, and 5, shooting a TS% of .600 is nothing to sneer at*. I don't even really like Malone, but you're just ridiculous grasping at straws.

* Jordan did 30, 6, and 4, shooting a TS% of .567

I'm late to the party but imo it's Bird, by a wide margin. Yes Bird had a better supporting cast but he had a little something to do with that.

Quick Bird story if y'all don't mind. I believe it was back in the '80s, not sure what year exactly, the Celtics played in an exhibition game at TBA against the Washington Bullets. I was a young kid and was so excited that we were making the 5 and a half hour drive to watch Larry Bird play (he was my favorite player and always has been). Not long into the game, Bird and Harvey Grant got into a fight. Both were ejected. Not sure I even got to see Bird make a shot. I think this is when I said my first cuss word...or cuss sentence.
