John Stockton Vs. Larry Bird

Magic shot the ball 4 more times per game and almost three more FT's a game which leads less opportunities for what? Assists.

Next.

But that's not necessarily true. He also played more minutes per game*, and had teammates that were more efficient scorers. A perfect pass to a guy that misses hurts your assist numbers.

*Magic averaged 6 more minutes per game. Stockton averaged 2 assists every 6 minutes.

Stockton played 47,764 minutes in his career and accumulated 15,806 assists. If Magic had played the same # of minutes, ceterus peribus, he would have only accumulated 14,570 assists. A difference of 1,236. To put this in perspective, the most assists Magic ever had in an entire season is 988. Even if Magic played forever like Stock, you would still have to tack on 5/4 of his best season just to catch him.

Why are you comparing these two players?

Stockton was a defined 1 while Bird could play the 2, 3, or 4. Is it because both are white?

Oh, and Bird. By. A. Mile.

Both white. Stockton was a more fundamentally sound player.

You are just trolling, even Stockton wouldn't give a second thought as to who was better.

It really is a case of not even being close.

Saying Stockton is top 30 is being kind. Saying Bird is top 10 is commonly accepted, top 5 could be debated but you would have a valid argument.

right. cause I don't agree with you.

That's it, has nothing to do with saying that John Stockton is a top 5 player of all-time, he wasn't even the best player on his team.

As far as Pippen goes, I loved his game, one of my favorite players of all-time but he is nowhere near the top 5 or the top 10.
