For those interested. Palermo was at Wisconsin for 15 years. In July of 2005, Barry Alvarez decided to step down after the 2005 season. He picked Bret Beilema to be his replacement. Beilema would not tell any of the assistants their fate until after the season.
Palermo didn't like that too much.
I have done absolutely nothing in recruiting (this season) because I refuse to put my good name out there and recruit somebody, with the assumption that Im going to be here, and I didnt know, Palermo said. The one thing about recruiting, particularly back East, its all about relationships. And if those people trust you, they trust you."
Coincidentally Beilema is another coach replacing 6 assitants this year.
