Oh, now I have hurt your feelings.

Understand that disagreeing with your opinion is not the same as disagreeing with your ability to express it.

Sure, Blackburn is disappointed but I think he will be fine.

Lol. You haven't hurt anybody's feelings, you don't have that ability here. You also clearly don't have the necessary intelligence to understand how someone could have empathy for a guy, a fellow UT alum, who just got completely disrespected by the powers that be at the University he grew up at, loves and wanted to help bring back to athletic relevance.

The Hamilton Hatchet Man rhetoric? Man had a job. Was he going to refuse his boss's decision? Not his call. Don't know the actual knowledge of the "sources" claiming he was front and center on the hires (or other claiming he was the lead on getting rid of Fulmer in the bungled manner we witnessed) but I think he merely did research on the hires...anything else is speculation. All successful coaches have egos. And all egos have different reasoning levels. I'd put Saban's decision making a few rungs higher than Snyder's. Saban has adjusted preemptively ahead of other top coaches...hence #1 recruiting classes year after year. He's also the top dog and money maker at a monster program...buys you a lot of sway. Snyder was and is successful at a much smaller scale and issues that have flared up in recent years like playing an inordinate level of cupcakes doesn't sync with Bama playing top teams at the beginning of every season. Currie was strengthening the SOS and Snyder bucked at that move...instant "bad people skills". He'll continue Hart's preference of scheduling quality opponents early to balance the fillers IMO.

We'll just agree to disagree my friend. No worries. I hope that in time I feel as good and as confident about this hire as you do at the moment because he's wildly successful here....it's all I want as a lifelong UT fan and alumnus. I just fear that the right guy to get us back is indeed still an hour and a half south of Knoxville.

John Currie received his MS in sports management from UT in 2003. He completed the degree requirements while working in UT's administration of men's athletics. Beginning under Dickey, he continued under Hamilton until taking the KSU AD job in 2009.

...unless of course you're looking for a winner (like blackburn is). sounds like you're looking for a building builder. something tells me you find EVERY hire to be a 'slam dunk'

That "something" is the voices in your own head. :scare:

And the hurt feelings of a handful of donors (Charlie Anderson plus whoever else) are a big reason that Blackburn didn't get the job.

If Joan Cronan is happy with Currie's hire, then I'll greet his impending tenure with an open mind. God save Joan!

No qualms with your cautious approach. Just have to reiterate that there can't be just ONE "the right guy".

Currie issues with UT boosters = red flag

Blackburn issues with UT boosters = butthurt booster

Currie worked in Hamilton AD = red flag

Blackburn worked in Hamilton AD = no big deal

People are getting so tied into one candidate they fail to admit all have warts. You don't win anything if "your guy" is chosen

You are such a sunshine pumper. UT could rehire Dooley and Sunseri and you would be on the board defending it and attacking anyone that says different. Currie may not be the dumpster fire that everyone is afraid he is, but there is no world that he is a better candidate than David Blackburn for this job.

Glad you are ok.

Intelligence has nothing to do with empathy.

Perhaps, looking at the big picture, it is for you I should have empathy. As I have stated, Blackburn is going to be ok.

I think you have some legitimate concerns, based on what you have heard or read, with Currie and a little too much man crush on Blackburn. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Your concerns may get overlooked by your whining but that does not mean they may not have some merit.

I think UT made a very good hire. Let's give him some support and see if he earns it.

I simply repeated what has been posted in this thread. Keep farming for likes by acting like your insults make sense

Currie's actual experience makes him at least as good and likely a better candidate. Blackburn is not and will never be the only viable candidate no matter what keeps being repeated.

Basilio has a guy from K State who covers their sports and recruiting. this guy has given a grim assessment of this Currie. gonna be interesting to see what happens in the coming years.

And Chris Childers spent several minutes on his radio program yesterday calling this a home run hire. Let's not act like the media is so significantly more informed or less biased than pretty much any of us here.

I'll direct attention to your number of likes and posts and let the forum make their own conclusions about who is farming for likes.

Mike Hamilton has more "actual experience" experience according to any criteria that you could possibly be using, but that doesn't make him a better candidate.

Nobody said that Blackburn was the only viable candidate, but he is heads above Currie. Currie did nothing but maintain Kansas State's mediocrity, where Blackburn elevated UTC athletics to unprecedented levels. You can pump your heart out, but there is no way he is better than Blackburn.

Wait, he's a better candidate just by virtue of having the job and not getting fired? Blackburn has actually elevated his program; Currie hired Bruce Weber.

we will not know until 2-3 years from now how he leads. if he's consistent here as he was in K. state. we could know much sooner.

Yeah Chris loves those hand written letters form Curie. John knows how to work the national media. Childers also said if Tennessee fans don't like this hire, they are either ignorant or *******s. So I lost respect of him for saying that.

what does the national media know? they don't have the time to research. it seems to me that getting opinions from K state and UT people would give us a better understanding of how he manages. from what people are saying, they are very concerned with this hire.

First let me state that I do not post on here much... My feelings on this hire is not good at all.. He has very bad people skills. He likes to micro-manage his coaches.. They were celebrating at Kansas State when they heard he was leaving.. Just too many red flags for me.... Tennessee screwed the pooch once again...

it's going to be interesting. this may be a good reason not to renew my season tickets this year.

Brice on Basilio show said he's received tons of tweets and texts from people who are not happy with this hire.
