John Currie of K State Hired as AD

From what I'm gathering, the Chancellor has F'ed this up. Whether Currie is the right hire or not, she has failed miserably with her "politicking".

But this is just my uneducated opinion.

KB, after I posted this comment, it reminded me of one of your posts a week or so ago about Davenport shouldn't be involved in this hire. I disagreed with you. I'm not sure you were right, but I now feel obligated to let you know I'm leaning more to agreeing with you now.

Just felt it's the right thing to do.Take it Fwiw.

Nothing else has changed tho. Lol.

absolutely since you're throwing insults at UT players. That should be embarrassing for a UT fan (although I've been around here long enough to know it's not)

It's not only ridiculous it's idiotic. It is one of the dumbest things that gets posted on this board.

I didn't throw one insult at jumper.. I just don't think he is good( though he had a decent year this year) If that's an insult then what are we doing here..

So there have been more posts about this? Specifically jumper or other players ? Listen i get it's an out there assumption but i don't think it's really that crazy?

Yes it's an insult to say his dad buys his playing time.

This was brought up before and it's pretty much been abandoned by anyone thinking it through. Only a select few special posters continue to believe it. Congrats on being in that special club

He'd be a guy with a ton of connections in Knoxville that could find something like that out for sure.

I thought alot of people didnt put any stock into what he said? I dont know, nor do i care, just curious. I really dont care who was hired as AD.

Why? Dude's been around the program for decades, lives in Knoxville, writes for ESPN. I'm not sure I agree with all his opinions, but there's no reason to doubt his information imo.

Charles Davis....

“I wanted us to scour the country shooting for excellence and I think we did. John Currie was here for a good, long time. He knows Tennessee. He gets it,” said Davis, a former UT defensive back. “He had interest in coming back when he was sitting at an established place doing a pretty darn good job in my estimation. A place that is not easy to win and they are winning in multiple sports. I think this is a big get.”

No I don't but I have a strong feeling that he did IMO...
Colton was a walk on and didn't/doesn't have the talent of any of the lbs we have on the roster.. yet he is somehow on the field over bituli, cortez, and berry.. just doesn't add up to me.. ( this is where the $$$ comes into play)
I could be wrong but I don't think so

Colton Jumper did not see the field over Cortez McDowell. And when he played, he played better than Berry, Bates and others. Yet in your opinion CBJ played him because his dad gave money.
So you accuse his dad of offering money for his son to play. You have slandered a man (Jay Jumper) that is VFL and has contributed much to The University of Tennessee. IMO, this is in very poor taste.
BTW, I do not know Jay Jumper.

Was it abandoned because you replied to their posts like you did mine? They probably didn't feel like having to respond to you after such calm replies.. I'm somewhat decent at least

No it was abandoned because they thought about it and realized how dumb it actually sounded. You think dumb ideas should be coddled and allowed to spread?

It's also an insult to our coaching staff... not to mention the intelligence of the average person. And Colton Jumper did play very well against Florida.

I know he's a VFL all I did was put it out there. I didn't say it happened but just that it wouldn't surprise me if it had

Never been much of a coddler or a fan of participation trophies.. so I guess the answer to your question is no

No clue, any time someone qoutes him here, he gets ripped to shreds.

Just never understood that conspiracy. How much dough would Dad Jumper have to pony up for Butch to risk his 4 mil plus salary and any chance of basic integrity? For Shoop to even stay after signing on and finding these kind of shenanigans...and likewise risking his financial and coaching stability. If it was an enormous payout, it would be extremely difficult to keep it shrouded. Who would be spending this endowment. Did he pay it to only Butch and Butch had to order Jancek and then Shoop to play Colton? Jancek has been quite bitter since his dismissal. Why hasn't he leaked any of this? It just seems that you have to stretch reality into absurd shapes to make this fit. Much more difficult than believing a kid that was destined for the Naval Academy managed to outwork teammates and impress coaches. :hi:

Hyams also said on the radio that this guy wasn't really liked when he was at UT and thinks that the Chancellor did the hire and no boosters had a say. Saying Peyton was on the search team and no way that Peyton would of voted for this guy over Fulmer or even Blackburn. He went on to say that a lot of people were not happy with this hire. I bet the Chancellor was sent to UT from Russia or the NSA to completely destroy the program. I thought the ones that were already in place were doing a fine job at it.
I bet this Chancellor wont last 2 years.

Hyams is only speculating on what Peyton believes about this hire.

Hyams interviewed KState beat writer who said Currie and Snyder do not get along. Then Hyams kept saying for the rest of the show that Currie needs to learn to deal better with coaches, but neglected to say why Snyder does not like Currie.

Currie came to KState and made Snyder stop playing so many cupcakes in out of conference games. Snyder has an inflated winning percentage because for years he did his own scheduling and played weak teams at home. Snyder dislikes the fact that Currie took over scheduling and made Snyder play other Power 5 teams and made him play on the road out of conference. Currie has done the right thing, yet Hyams beat this drum for the whole show.

I'm very happy with this hire, but I want to know 2 things:

1. Why wasn't Currie on the list of potential candidates 2 months ago?
2. What is the story now on the "its Fulmer" rumor? There's got to be some drama attached to that story.
