We hired an unliked money man from a mediocre at every sport school for AD.
This hire just screams prepare to be happy with 7-8 win seasons in football and 9 win seasons will be treated like accomplishments.

So he's good with the business/donor side of things, but questionable on the coaching decisions. He fired Frank Martin and hired Bruce Weber- not a good look. He didnt have to do anything terribly important with the football program, besides some necessary facility upgrades (which, by all accounts, were planned well before he arrived) - with Snyder at helm the football program practically runs itself.

Cant find any reasons to be excited about this hire, seems to be par for the course for UT. Sure he has UT connections but he was also Hamilton's right hand man. Big red flag if there ever was one.

Ill crawl back under my rock now...

No, he didn't. Martin left for SC, was his choice.

You know this for a fact

No I don't but I have a strong feeling that he did IMO...
Colton was a walk on and didn't/doesn't have the talent of any of the lbs we have on the roster.. yet he is somehow on the field over bituli, cortez, and berry.. just doesn't add up to me.. ( this is where the $$$ comes into play)
I could be wrong but I don't think so

Looks like any Fulmer allies were not even in the running. UT went out of it's way to make a statement to Fulmer supporters.

Boy, it really seems that way. At least one hopes they had some motivation that they thought would help UT sports in the long term, so much so they would risk alienation of a large groups of fans and some big $$$ boosters. Otherwise, this hire wasn't the wise choice.

That's completely absurd. You should feel embarrassed for even posting it

Currie came to ut under dickey in 1997. Stayed on under Hamilton. Get your facts straight

Read back....I was politely corrected earlier, and apologized for being misinformed.

You're probably swell at parties.

I guess I'll just be a weirdo and reserve judgment. I really have no idea who he is or if he'll be any count, but he has the job. It's done. The best thing to do is give the man the benefit of the doubt and plow forward with cautious optimism. Welcome aboard, Mr. Currie. Now bring on spring football already and let's get down to business.

should I? do you think he is good? is his dad not one of the major contributors/boosters we have?

first sentence has an IMO in it.. btw

the original post was about why boosters have such strong opinions and why they think their opinion matters..I said there thoughts don't matter.. just like jay jumper thinking his kid is god gift.. nobody cares..

then went to go on to say I think he paid for his kid to play.. not that ridiculous considering he is a major contributor.. again just my opinion and I never feel embarrassed on this board with all the garbage post I read everyday.. you may think this is one of them.. but you can have your opinion.. I don't give a damn :)

Shouldn't be work for you. You cited them as the basis for your unease. Steer the less resourceful in the general direction...unless you made it up. Then please don't. I'll accept your non answer as admission to fraud. :)

You can accept it as whatever you wish....As I'm certain you will. The basis of what I was saying came from two upset lettermen I spoke with today (non-football).

His boy was pretty dang good during the Florida game

absolutely since you're throwing insults at UT players. That should be embarrassing for a UT fan (although I've been around here long enough to know it's not)

It's not only ridiculous it's idiotic. It is one of the dumbest things that gets posted on this board.

Very disappointed that we didn't get a Tennessee guy when we had a very qualified candidate in our back yard. This really alienates the fan base. It's so discouraging being a Tennessee fan, but what can you expect? Maybe it'll work out. I just hate it for Blackburn, and honestly for Fulmer as well. I guess we'll wait and see.

You really think it's that big a deal to have a "Tennessee guy"? Fans don't give a rat's a$$ where he went to school. We just want our teams to win and for our facilities to remain among the elite of college athletics. Doug Dickey was a fine AD. The glory years of UT athletics (1995-2001) were squarely on his watch. He was great for facilities, fundraising and compliance. The only negatives really were the Wade Houston hire (actually done by Pres. Lamar Alexander) and his handling of the coaching search following the departure of Kevin O'Neill... However, he was a Florida man who had left us for the Gators. Those of you clamoring for Blackburn need to get over it. It is weird that he is so highly regarded on here. What has he done, actually???
