"I want to see Kansas State hire Blackburn. The **** storm will be epic."

You'd be surprised how close to reality this might actually be...

Blackburn is a lesser version of Currie - Tennessee roots, successful as associate AD and moved to another job as head AD to get experience.

Currie did it at KState. Blackburn did it at UTC.

Currie has raised literally millions of more dollars, negotiated contracts worth literally millions of more dollars, and has built facilities that cost literally millions of more dollars than Blackburn.

This is a slam dunk hire.

That's how I feel about it. I was #teamblackburn but like this hire. As you've stated, he's done it at a power 5 conference team. Good hire.

Just hope that he isn't too much like "Mid Major Mike" Hamilton when it comes to hiring coaches or investing in the program. Hopefully Currie saw firsthand that approach fails miserably at the SEC level

If he is like Hamilton and appreciates a good MAC coach he'll sign Butch to a lifetime contract tomorrow.

I can't wait! This is going to be absolutely underwhelming.

Are you talking about Blackburn or Currie?

Both. Everything during the Hamilton regime was a dumpster fire. Maybe this guy will be the person to drag Tennessee athletics kicking and screaming back to the national elite. Personally, I just hate the thought of anything involved with Hamilton.

Why does it seem like a good hire to people? Kansas State is mediocre. Kansas State is to the Big 12 what South Carolina is to the SEC but with a better basketball program due to Bob Huggins turning it in to a decent program. They lost Bob Huggins, then they lost his predecessor Frank Martin with this guy at the helm... to South Carolina

The more I read on him, the more I see this being a good hire. Again, this is an admin position and he has administstatively made K State better since he arrived in a difficult location. He's also got TN ties. I was a big Blackburn supporter, but this guy could be as good and better than Blackburn. I'm guessing a couple folks will disagree. 😃 wouldn't be a good day on VN without a chicken little scenario.

This is the classic "compromise". You guys can't decide between Blackburn or Fulmer so we will just choose option C. Now no one will be happy.
