He didn't deal with Dooley or the Pearl fiasco so I'm good in terms of him being Mike Hamilton's guy.

Blackburn is a lesser version of Currie - Tennessee roots, successful as associate AD and moved to another job as head AD to get experience.

Currie did it at KState. Blackburn did it at UTC.

Currie has raised literally millions of more dollars, negotiated contracts worth literally millions of more dollars, and has built facilities that cost literally millions of more dollars than Blackburn.

This is a slam dunk hire.

he's been at a much bigger university.

Best of luck to Currie and I hope he helps bring all of the sports programs back to a championship level. A much better hire than Bohn or Fulmer would have been.

I admit to not knowing much about the dealings of the business side of college athletics, but I fail to be inspired by the hiring of someone to the A.D. that was a subordinate during the fall of Tennessee athletics.

Are you talking about Blackburn or Currie?

Very disappointed that we didn't get a Tennessee guy when we had a very qualified candidate in our back yard. This really alienates the fan base. It's so discouraging being a Tennessee fan, but what can you expect? Maybe it'll work out. I just hate it for Blackburn, and honestly for Fulmer as well. I guess we'll wait and see.

From wikipedia...

At Kansas State

Currie administers K-State Athletics’ projected $71 million budget, manages 165 employees and maintains relations with 450 student athletes. He has cultivated relationships with alumni and donors, and his department projected a $4.4 million budget increase for the 2016 fiscal year. Since Currie's arrival at KSU, the school's athletics budget has increased by $26 million over its 2010 budget of $44.1 million. KSU's athletics budget has had a surplus for six consecutive years.[3]

Awards and achievements

Kansas State won or shared Big 12 Conference championships in football, men’s basketball and baseball in the 2012–2013 academic year, and Currie was honored as one of four 2013 Under Armour Athletic Directors of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.[4] The university has invested $190 million in new and upgraded facilities, including the West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and a basketball training venue. In May 2015, a new football complex was under construction which was scheduled to open in September.[5] In a letter to supporters dated June 30, 2015, Currie wrote that the KSU athletics department's first goal was to provide "A World-Class Student-Athlete Experience".[6]

I just don't have anything to go on.
See nothing overtly negative about him but also nothing that would make people say he was a splash hire.

Oh well, guess I'll just hope for the best.

Currie and Blackburn's resume follow almost the same path. Except one went to a Power 5 school, one went to a small school.

As first reported by jimmy hyams. Was an associate ad at Tennessee and oversaw basketball during the Bruce pearl era. At first, I didn't like the hire, now, I'm all for it.

This is a very good hire, he's been here before and has P5 experience. This is a step above Blackburn IMO due to experience alone. Great hire.
