Visited the Kansas state board.
Wish they didn't seem so happy about this. But fans will be fans so I won't read too much into it.

So, why was this guy never mentioned as a possibility, if he was basically Blackburn 2.0 or Blackburn++ ?? How is this out of left field? Sounds like he has done a good job at K State.

I'm almost positive he has been mentioned before.

Very disappointed that we didn't get a Tennessee guy when we had a very qualified candidate in our back yard. This really alienates the fan base. It's so discouraging being a Tennessee fan, but what can you expect? Maybe it'll work out. I just hate it for Blackburn, and honestly for Fulmer as well. I guess we'll wait and see.

I don't know if he's good or not but he's been here before:

"Currie joined the University of Tennessee in 1997 as executive director of its athletic scholarship fund. At Tennessee, he was executive associate athletic director, senior associate athletic director, associate athletic director for external operations, associate director for development, marketing and tickets, associate athletic director for development and assistant athletic director for development. As executive associate athletic director, Currie was among Knoxville business' "40 under 40"

I'm not going to lie, it was random, but the guy has Tennessee connections and seems pretty highly regarded and successful. He won AD of the year a few years ago.

But Kansas State's teams are middle of the pack. We need improvement in all sports.

I'm not going to hold him accountable for what Hamilton did at Tennessee. We've all discussed how Hamilton was just a puppet to the boosters. Also, how much control could he really have over his boss. In my opinion, he probably left for K State to get away from Hamilton and the eventual collapse he was leading the AD towards.

I've not seen anything about coaches hating him. It seems contrary since he helped measly K State raise millions of more dollars and upgrade their facilities across all sports.

Who has he hired?

Snyder was never getting fired and he would have been crucified had he done so

There's always a vocal segment of fans that have a "good riddance" attitude when someone leaves; as if they take it personally that someone would leave the school they root for.

I am also concerned why K State fans are so thrilled. We need to dig dirt up on him guys. Let's get to work. VolNation style.

I mentioned in the AD thread this morning.
Which is the earliest I heard the rumor lol.

Does anyone know who torpedoed Blackburn? Somebody (or somebodies) behind the scenes blocked the Blackburn hire. It just seems like we have people in power who do not want to see success in UT athletics.

It's been said that Charlie Anderson was the force behind this. But TIFIW.

Just hope that he isn't too much like "Mid Major Mike" Hamilton when it comes to hiring coaches or investing in the program. Hopefully Currie saw firsthand that approach fails miserably at the SEC level
