What on Earth does that have to do with anything? The UT AD didnt decide to hang onto CBJ another year after the UF loss. Why would you decide to fire a coach after starting 2-0 then decide not to after losing? Worst logic ever
His plan doesn't make any sense.
No action in the face of crisis is called indecisiveness.
Recruits aren't backing out because Butch is gone. They are backing out because they have no idea what's going on in Knoxville. The ship is sinking and the captain isn't getting on the intercom. Should have fired him after Bama.
As much as people love to argue about this, good companies don't let dead men wander around the halls for long, because it starts to stink. It is exactly what is happening now. Employees simultaneously employed and fired is just an awful idea to implement for more than a month.
You said it was before the fire butch ramped up.
I was pointing out that youre wrong
You dont read much do you? Is he one of five people you follow on the twitter?
Ya know what's funny?
The way you respond to people, you obviously have no facts on this whole situation yet you try and talk down to anyone who points out something that doesn't go with your idea
You say we have zero proof that Currie is just sitting around doing nothing, but you have zero proof that he is doing some kind of grand master plan on the next coach hire
You also stated that anyone with a brain can see Jones isn't coming back, so how donyou know this?
You act as if you know without a doubt that he's gone, but where is your proof?
The complete and utter silence from Currie is more troubling than anything.
There was an article just the other day about a recruit of ours who's said he has no idea what's going on, which tells me Currie has no idea what he wants to do.
The longer this plays out, the better the chances are that Jones keeps his job, especially if he some how lucks into a bowl game
He, likely along with the administration, appears to have concluded that its best to not fire Butch Jones during the season, but rather after the Vanderbilt loss at the end of November. I certainly wouldve loved to see Jones gone several weeks ago, but Im also just a fan, prone to emotional response when seeing my favorite football program being run into the ditch. Its not unreasonable, imho, to fire Jones after the last game/loss of the season. Like I heard Withrow on 104.5 the Zone say recently, it looks like Currie has decided Jones is the best interim coach he could choose at this point.
Currie is a new AD who is in the midst of making the biggest decision of his career....he HAS TO get it right. He screws this decision up and his tenure at Tennessee is significantly reduced.
For all we know, hes made the decision already to fire Jones and has been back channeling his ass off for a month now so that when he fires Jones on November 26, he can introduce the next coach, who by the way he knows better damn well be a great hire for his sake, on November 27.
Lets just the guy do his job, what do ya say? If Jones isnt gone soon after the Vandy game, or God forbid somehow survives 2017 and is retained for 2018, Ill be the first guy to jump in both feet calling for Curries (and everybody elses) ouster up there, trust me. But imho, right now its just premature to say the guy is derelict in his duties and has no plan. Three weeks from now, however, itll be a completely different story.....lets just get there and see where we are.
Youve either lost your mind, are blind, or not very observant.
Yep it makes sense to fire a coach after losing to a school you have beaten once in the last decade. Please enlighten me with more of your knowledge boy wonder, and share with the board how the AD confided its plans with a recruits father even though said recruit opened his recruitment up weeks ago yet this knowledge is just now being leaked to you of course. Even though every teenager on Earth has Twitter and Facebook account
