Joey Football > Hooker

Hooker was intelligent enough to manage the Game Clock.- See Alabama win...
Joey has been great for the Vols, but remember the guy is like 32 years old in College football years. This man should've controlled the game better than he did. He has to improve and so does everyone other player, coach, and dadgum ref on that field.
Wasnt Hooker like 25 when he got drafted??

I can. 3 INTs vs UGA his senior year at Neyland vs UGA.

I see Hooker as #2 in QB rankings, and it's not really that close.

Nobody has ever put up Hooker's numbers, and it's possibly nobody ever will for a long time. As to overall records, you are only as good as your defense and the defense in 2022 was awful.

Hooker completed 70% of his passes, threw for 6000 yards, with almost 60 TDs and 5 ints in 2 seasons. He also led the NCAA in passing efficiency and was SEC Offensive Player of the Year (our only QB to do so since the award had not been created when Peyton or Shuler were here). He led the league in yards per attempt. When he was injured, he was the odds on #1 Heisman Favorite. On top of all that, he rushed for over 1000 yards in 2 years.
Hooker's best season was 22'. Thru the first 5 games JA is actually right there with where Hooker was the first 5 games of 22'. An argument can be made that JA has the tougher first 5 games of the 2. He has led the offense to more points than Hooker did in that same time frame. Hooker has a higher completion % but JA has a higher drop rate so it almost balances out. JA has more passing yards, TD's, and the same rushing TD's. They are both around the same y/a. If JA doesn't have 4 int's bounce of his WR's the int's would be the same. Its not a crazy statement at all. The numbers suggest they are closer than they appear. The other major factor is JA is doing this with only 3 months on the job.

Prove me wrong
We are only five games in. I feel as though Joey may not be as good of a runner, but he is as good or better at extending plays with his legs and navigating the pocket. Hooker can get more yards once he is open and had a stronger arm. I also think Joey and his receivers (including the backs and TEs) have found really good chemistry that is special to watch. If only fewer balls were dropped.

No, Hooker executed the offense at a very high level and Joey isn’t quite there yet. No knock on him, I just think Hooker had the advantage of multiple years here and maybe a better set of WR in Bru, Hyatt and Tillman.

Hooker was a little more accurate and a better runner. I do love me some Joey Football though. If by some miracle he gets another year look out. He's still learning the playbook and I can only imagine how good he can become with another year in the system.
This is spot on. Let’s wait. I would love to see a 2 year comparison between the 2 qbs but Hooker made defenses pay with his legs.
