Some people said Joey does not have another year of eligibility but I'm trying to figure out why. After the Pavia rule should he not have two years since he played two seasons at Diablo Valley? Before that at City College of San Francisco he redshirted for his first year, and the second was canceled due to COVID. What am I missing, to me it seems he should have a redshirt extra year, a COVID extra year, or another year for the two years he played at Diablo Valley.

The Pavia ruling gave him this year. He was out of eligibility before that.

That ruling didn’t give Juco’s 2 more years. It gave them 1 more.

Ok I didn't know that. But what about his lost COVID year and Redshirt. To me it seems like he would get a Pavia rule extra year and at least another due to COVID or the Redshirt.

The COVID year was 20. He played JUCO in 21 & 22. App State in 23 & 24. Tennessee in 25. That’s 5 years of playing. He gets one JUCO year back for the Pavia ruling.

I'm still confused. I am going by Wikipedia. It says he redshirted in 2019, that in 2020 the season was canceled at City College of San Francisco. Then two years at Diablo Valley, and two at Appy State, now one here at UT. That's 5 years, of actual playing time, one extra year due to the Pavia rule. Now I just looked up and it said the COVID extra year ran out for players last year, so that's not possible to claim, but there is still the issue of the Redshirt, unless they count the year he did not play because of COVID as a year he played. I honestly think he has a case for another year, don't know if he wants to do that though.

I don't how you think he deserves another year. He got the redshirt in 2019. Covid was 2020, so it doesn’t count, whether he played or not. Then he used his allotted 4 years AFTER THAT. Then the Pavia rule gave him a 5th year, which he is using now. I’m not sure why you think he should have another. This is his 7th year.

I wish we would have another year with him but this year is it
Heupel has struck gold so far in the portal with QB's. These 5 star QB's out of high school have never really faced adversity and have been given everything they wanted. I hope King George is the real deal for the future, but big daddy Hype has a clear framework of high producing Qb's.

Aguilar yes....Joe...i guess......Hendon was already here through Pruitt.. but I agree with what your saying older guys seem to fit this offense, Merk, Gmac Faizon we'll see but I'd keep an eye on the portal

Joey has a good case to come back if he wants to. His path is almost identical to Pavia. Similar to Kitselman. It also depends on UT wanting him back or if they want to get on with new QBs.

I really hope Joey and the vols wins 10-11 games and he plays so well that he gets a decent draft grade. In my lowly opinion he deserves a shot if he does that
