This needs to end, imo. I don’t fault the players, as they are making more money than they ever will, but there has to be some kind of end point. It’s a matter of time before we have unlimited eligibility as long as you maintain “student” status.
Agreed, stop wanting to play with the kids. Hell, maybe I will go back and sue tssaa for some more eligibility so I can get recruited and paid. LOL
Grow up boys, have no business playing football at age 25 with kids between 17- 22.

See the thing is nobody knows what GMac would do. I would say right now he is feeling confident that he will be the starter next year. And if Aguilar gets another year, GMac may view that negatively and think he can get more playing time elsewhere.

Getting JA for another year could be a huge disaster. I would rather not risk it.

Lmao.... This is brain dead thinking.

Aguilar is one the top QB's in the country and would have virtually all but Brazzell returning in the receiving group. Gmac isn't transferring to another big time program and starting on day 1 next season.

You 100000% go for getting Aguilar back. While I have been vocal about turning the page to the future, that was all under assumption that Aguilar is gone and has no desire to push for another year. If he does get another year, you go that route 10 times out of 10. You don't take Gmac with zero experience if Aguilar gets another year granted.

You don't think Fazion is going to start until his Jr year?

If we are in a spot where Fazion has a year to sit and Gmac has 2 years to sit, we are in a great situation come 2027. But if Joey Aguilar pursues the legal route to and gets another year. That is basically like hitting on a 1st round pick with QB who plays right away.

Gmac isn't going to sit 2 years to be Fazion's backup. He'll transfer.

I don't think you fully understand why they are getting these exceptions.

Aguilar was a stopgap and he's done well in that role, but it's time to see what MacIntyre and Brandon - and Merklinger, even if he's likely gone - can do.

I don't understand the people saying Aguilar will do better next year. He's twenty four, it's his fifth year. What you see is what you get with him, both good and bad. He's done well for the most part, albeit with a few really glaring hiccups - the coverage misreads and the misthrow at Alabama going into the half being the most painful ones. But he's not going to find some magical sixth gear. He is who he is at this point.

That said, I also think it's high past time we see what all Tennessee's NIL money has bought them at the QB position.

He has started to falter a little down the stretch, but I think he would be better next year, no doubt. But you play with fire bringing him back. Merk is likely gone regardless, but Mac probbaly leaves too, leaving you with JA and a true freshman. You'd have to bring another guy for depth purposes.
Why does Mac leave? Do you think he honestly thought he would start year two with Merk ahead of him?

Simple solution that will never happen!

1st, one year of JUCO gets you an extra year in DIV 1,2, or 3.
2nd, the catch, in order to be eligible to "trade" the second year of JUCO for eligibility the players MUST have completed their B.S Degree and be enrolled in a the graduate level program!

If it is truely about student-athletes getting an education, it makes sense!

If Aguilar somehow is granted another year, Tennessee will do whatever it takes to ensure he’s the starter at QB for the 2026 season. Heupel’s job is hinging on the QB position and play next year.

A number of reasons. I certainly am against the lawsuits saying JUCO’s should be able to play longer. It’s unfair to players who have taken the 4-year D1 route in some respects, it’s also a money grab in many ways, and chemistry-wise it makes team dynamics tougher. Add that to the fact that Joey has struggled more the 2nd half of the season than the 1st leads me to believe he’s not improving during the year. I personally would like to see guys like Merklinger, George, and Faizon get a healthy shot next year.

As this goes, you could see a QB come in as "a freshman" who has been lighting up JUCO for 2 years and essentially expand on the portal EXCEPT JUCO doesn't count on eligibility.

Since most college players don't make the league, this is the way.

Collect NIL for 6 years instead of 4. While granted, JUCO NIL isn't SEC NIL but it's 2 extra years of ball, of fundamentals, and training just in case you DO have what it takes to make the league.

Sweet deal.

This is a weird situation.

I get it, the guys listed in the lawsuit likely aren't good enough to make it at the next level, so yeah - I would sue for another year making 6 or 7 digits.

On the other hand, its hurting the guys that have the talent to make the league and bumping them out of crucial development time...It’s how you end up with QBs in the NFL that are talented as hell but couldn't recognize a defense to save their own life.
