Your right. There again no one beat out a certain unamed qb in the previous regime either. We all know he was forced down our throats. Not saying that is what is happening here but I do feel like HH should have gotten more than 1 series if he is truly the #2 and the competiton was close i you believe that from Heupel.Bailey couldn’t beat out any of these guys so far.
First impressions and declarative statements and shizz like that. BeardedRollTides prolly wanted to yank his scholarship first thing first snap. How long had he been on campus?Where did I say that anything was "never not been true"?
Also, what does Mac Jones ending up being a good QB at Alabama have to do with Milton's performance last night from Milton?
Actually many have coached at high levels. He has no touch, no vision, struggles with accuracy, and is slow processing plays. If you didn’t see it last night then you apparently have no idea what you are talking aboutOur fans overreact entirely too much without any knowledge of football. Just because you've been a fan for 20 years or coach a flag football team doesn't qualify you as a football guru. Most of you have no idea what you're talking about.
That is an interesting view....if what you are saying is true, then if other teams do this, they will be leaving 3 in the box and drop 8, then our running game would have similar success.BG dropped eight. They played the LBs in the short zone and safeties held two middle thirds. Not discounting Milton’s lack of touch, but we will never see that again. BG pulled the equivalent of year one Kiffin vs Alabama. When you play a team that can beat you by 35, run the clock on O, and take away one full facet on D. It was pretty smart for appearances sake. They committed to losing to avoid a blowout. Heupel has designed an offense that is based on a three option check down over 1.5 seconds. Milton was still shopping at five seconds. His passing stats are a useless data point.
Think ill lean on Huepel for this decision but thanksJudging from last nights performance and his career at Michigan -don't think Milton's got "it". In college decent to good quarterbacks A) have good touch and B) Good QB's can anticipate the break and put the ball where it needs to be -leading the receiver or throwing the receiver open. Saw none of that last night, a good D would have had at least one pick last night. College QB just cannot throw the ball on a rope every time, makes it hard to go over the top- I THINK BAILEY would THRIVE in this Offense- What say you?
PS Hope I'm wrong about Milton, would gladly eat crow- Anybody watch any of that Heuple's old team UCF last night ?-
Peyton looked like crap against UCLA…and Florida…and Bama. Hell his last two games against VANDY were classic stinkers. When you run into a mud hole, you don’t spin your wheels too long. But if you get out of it, you run it through the wash after you reach your destination. Are you ? I have seen enough good football in life to have a semblance of what a good Qb looks like when I spend money to watch them. Just sayin..
Good point here. And I don't think - based on Heupel's post game comments - that he will stick with Milton regardless. But the proof will come when, in about midway through the second quarter against Pitt, we get down 14 points and before the game is essentially over......will he pull Milton and give Hooker an opportunity to show what he can do in this system? If CJH will do that, then I have no complaint. But please don't stick with Milton beyond logic like has been done here for years.Timing and accuracy come with playing time. That’s never not been true. Mac Jones was a liability when he first came in for Tua…and he’d been in Tuscaloosa in the same system SURROUNDED BY EXCELLENT SUPPORTING TALENT that much longer. Worked out ok.
I’m beginning to think Bailey was just a product of playing alongside elite talent in HS. Not many HS QBs get to throw to three Power 5 receivers. I could be misremembering but I don’t think Trevor Lawrence had that luxury when he was in HS in Georgia.Bailey couldn’t even get garbage time last night. That went to Hooker, clearly JH hasn’t been impressed with Bailey
With Milton's physique, he should be a drop back, evaluate and throw...if no one is open, tuck and run. Hanging out all day in the backfield will be a recipe for disaster. He has to make quicker decisions to pick up what he can if no one is open instead of having a picnic in the backfield. What I saw last night LIVE is going to be the exact thing you are describing. Everyone says Bailey is a statue but Milton has lead feet.
Different animal in Knoxville. Tho he’s traditionally selected well from the beginning.Good point here. Make a valid point and get back to us. If you can’t understand mine that’s been clearly stated, find a remedial thread. Heupel won’t dump his starter willy nilly. Classic Beard reaction.![]()
Please dont bring up Peyton. Peyton looked worlds different than any of these kids even as a freshman. And yeah he had some absolute bad games. He also won a ton of them.Peyton looked like crap against UCLA…and Florida…and Bama. Hell his last two games against VANDY were classic stinkers. When you run into a mud hole, you don’t spin your wheels too long. But if you get out of it, you run it through the wash after you reach your destination.
If any team on our schedule drops 8 into coverage, we will just pound the rock and run it. I just worry when a team puts 7-8 in the box....not sure our QB can read and throw fast enough before he gets sacked/fumbles. If he can do that, we may e better. If defenses are dropping 7-8 in coverage pretty much every possession, it limits what you can do in the throw game. Decent teams won’t do that, so Milton’s numbers will look better against better competition as weird as that sounds.
Not to pile on the newby, but I was more shocked that a guy that big would be a soft runner. Hey big guy - you weigh 240+. Lower your shoulder and make those lb’s & db’s think twice about wanting to tackle you!Did you watch Milton run ? I saw nothing HB or HH isn't capable of. Milton does not run a 4.5 no way in hell. Maybe a 4.7 like most other te bodies.
