JJJ, Springer, Johnson

Springer and Johnson need another year to develop their outside shot, and to develop a better handle. JJJ could benefit from off-season shot development too.

Got to admit, I haven't watched one minute of NBA in probably a decade or more, but if either Johnson and Springer are first round pics.... the NBA must REALLY suck.

IMO in most aspectsis NBA is a different game and players are judged by people that know on a high level how their college game translates to the NBA. I think they are both gone unless one of them really wants a normal college year. This Covid has stolen the total college experience from those 2 and Vescovi just played a month last year before this Covid train wreck disrupted all.

It’s not so much their skills now, but do they have an NBA body and can develop their skills in time. Springer is the most ready of the group.

Only first round picks have guaranteed NBA contracts, so if you aren't a lock for round 1 you would only leave if you hate school. There is no way JJJ is a first rounder so I imagine he will return.

Keon is most likely a lottery pick so he is probably gone.

Springer is interesting and probably 50/50. I don't think he is a lottery pick but I do think he is a first rounder. His draft evaluation will be crucial and he will probably need a promise from a couple teams in the first that they will take him for him to leave.

It stinks to only have those guys for one year but that’s how it goes with that level of talent. If they both go first round it still helps with the perception of the program and future recruiting.

Selfishly I hope they all come back for one more year but can’t blame them for going if they get a solid 1st round grade.

I hope both come back for one more year to develop under Barnes. Its not clear to me where all this lottery pick hype is originating, especially for Keon. Looking at them play, I'd say Springer is the better player at the moment. I get that NBA is looking more at their future ability/development than their current game, but most lottery picks impress more than both have so far this season.

Springer and Johnson have to test the waters and get feedback. Really doubt James would leave. He is an enigma to me on the court as I think he has the skill set to be better than his numbers indicate. Springer has the most polished game to leave now, but Johnson has the most upside. Although I think Johnson’s stock may have dropped a little bit. If either feels they are a comfortable 1st round choice, you have to go.

NBA drafts on potential. Springer has body, and has iso skillset for next level. I think scouts would appreciate his willingness to pass, his defense and shot selection. He is not a proven volume perimeter shooter, but overall a mature game. He could be like Bradley Beal was when he was at Florida for that one year, if he had the same minutes and were more selfish in seeking his own shot. Both big strong kid wings. Johnson needs to tighten up his handle and improve perimeter shooting, but athletically he is ready and he presents with a great attitude and competitive drive. Johnson could be like a DeMar DeRozen type player who, to this day, isn’t a great perimeter shooter but still a perennial All-star. When both get pro coaching, pro conditioning, pro training they are going to be good at next level. I guess the question will be, is another year going to make a difference. Getting drafted top 10 vs top 30 is a difference. Both competed with Jalen Suggs consistently and he will likely be a top 3 pick, so obviously both can measure themselves against him. If they go pro, I wish them the best. Heck Jordan Bone has primarily played in G-league but just signed a one year contact with Orlando worth over $1M.

Who knows, in this COVID-19 environment, maybe the sample size of data won’t be enough for the scouts to take the same amount of risk like they have in the past. Pipe dream perhaps as draft boards are full of college freshman. Obviously would love to see them all back with Chandler, but doubt that happens. Pons will be gone for sure and expect he will have a nice pro career, probably in Europe, but the NBA will certainly take a look at him and he may get in at 2nd round or get a camp invite. Fulkerson is the one who is more uncertain to me. He can’t play in the NBA.

If we have to replace all 4 next year, that would be tough. Overall, I hate the one and done rule. It has ruined college basketball to a certain extent at higher levels and diminished the quality of play.

Nah. Springer is ready. The other two are very good, but I could see them both coming back. It is not all about offense. None of them are all-world on offense, but just go out there and try to score off of them, and then get back to me.

Springer has that rare ability to get past his man, and finish in the lane, without being stripped of the ball. I don't think Keon is quite there yet, but he has that potential. He's not bad at it. I just don't think he has the handle, in traffic, just yet, in order to be considered elite.

Keon needs to work on his offensive game. Just playing tough d only gets you so far in the NBA.

Does need to work, but he can create for himself quite nicely in the lane. His ability to elevate allows him to get some good looks from 12 feet in.

Also has to work on his perimeter defense as he and Bailey are both struggling to stay in front of their man. As much as Keon was praised for his D to start the season, his struggles have been very surprising. JMO

don't think J or s are physically ready not for the NBA. They will get killed by the pros. I think they both will be back next year

Announcer on the game last night said that Johnson is projected top 10 overall if that holds up then he's gone

My thoughts on who comes back next season.
Chances this player is back on Rocky Top next year.
Pons 10%
Keon 50%
Springer 50%
Fulky 65%
JJJ 85%
Pember 85%
Gaines 85%
Walker 75%
So I think that Pons is gone and probably one of two of either Keon or Springer and odds are probably someone else. JMO
