I don't know how he got away with that or why he'd do it. Hard to argue against the fact that he had intent. Even though that many may want to side with JJ, (myself included), you can't change what's in the video. The player's helmet just didn't accidentlly happen to come off. Pruitt may have to address this simply due to public pressure but I'm sure he'll try to side-step it. Privately I hope he get's in JJ'S shat big time. The hit and the long slide on slick plastic was acceptable. Everything after that was pure BS and uncalled for imo. Lucky to play in a bowl game if he does. True leaders don't set bad examples. They're expected to be in control. You don't think JJ took the Vandy player's helmet off?
I love the guy too. Loved the aggressive hit, loved it. But he went way overboard after the hit. Went off on the kid on the ground, ripped his helmet off and then stepped on the kid’s head. Not sure how anybody can watch and conclude anything else other than everything that happened there from JJ was intentional. I fully expect some punishment to come down from the conference.I love me some JJ...but I think he knew where his foot was going. My opinion.
I don't think so and I don't think there should be any punishment since he wasn't flagged for itI love the guy too. Loved the aggressive hit, loved it. But he went way overboard after the hit. Like I said - let's just wait and see.
UT has been known for setting precedence over the last few years! 10 sec run off comes to mind from the UNC game at Music City bowl!If something happens, this would be establishing a very dangerous precedence - review of a play where there was no penalty. It would set the precedence where a team could pick apart the film, find a questionable situation against a player and have it reviewed for punishment after the fact. It would be a game changer for college football.
This has been blown up by an UGA graduate who more than likely let his emotions overrule in the moment.
Thanks Judge WapnerEvidence:
A flag could have been thrown on the hit going out of bounds - it was close - but wasn't; hit good.
Jennings clearly went after the guy on the ground and ripped his helmet off; was it a reciprocal action? Unknown.
Jennings was barely touched by Vandy people as he moved away. He was not "shoved" into stepping on VU player's head.
Only Jennings knows if he intended to step on the guy's helmet-less head; intent unknown.
Summary: we have a good hit.
Will a lot of people think it was intentional.
Yes
Will the media go nuts and blow it out of proportion because it’s TN.
Yes
Does JJ have incredible vision to enable him to do that without even looking down at where he is even stepping.
No
...which is why I don’t think it was intentional as bad as it looked
