I don't think he meant to do that, but I also think he didn't care what he did so he wasnt careful getting up.
It was like the final big hit Jennings wanted to have, but also out of frustration from losing to Vandy for 3 years.

I stepped away and didn’t see it live. But afterwards I saw a video of DJ Shockley overwrought with disgust. Then they showed the clip and I was expecting some Albert Haynesworth moment. Shockley should be working for the Georgia athletic department

I don't think the refs saw what happened very clearly. I want to win the bowl game, but this is bigger than that.

If, in a fit of anger, you rip a guy's helmet off after the play is over - off the field of play - and your cleated foot ends up on his head (intentional or not), I would expect the NCAA to do whatever they see fit. That is not football.

Edit- video deleted, not worth my time arguing. I like JJ. Whether he did it on purpose or not, I'm confident this is what he said. 2:13:20 on YouTube broadcast by vol freak.

Between Shockley, Stinchcomb, and David Pollock, that’s 3 pro Doggie, often anti Vol announcers that ESPN employs. I hate when one of them does our games.

Accident? His conduct afterward blows the hell out of that excuse. This kind of wanton thuggery is a disgrace to the program. Perhaps an Albert Haynesworth award ought to be instituted to go along with the Fulmer Cup.

This is a great description. We were 3-4 rows up and directly behind incident. They slid across the width of the sideline area and crashed into an exercise bike and then there was a big scrum. We could not see “the step” but there were two refs in the middle of it - hard to believe they missed it. After it was over, a trainer handed Vandy player his helmet and player thanked him and trotted back to his own sideline. Didn’t seem like a big deal until we got home and turned on the TV.

May not get drafted when you couple this incident with the rant that got him kicked off the team. Fact is he didn't settle down for awhile after that sideline incident and that's not a good look from a guy who has proclaimed himself as a team leader. Appears to be a lack of self control or,lord forbid, high on dope. I'm not buying the BS, it's Vandy and he hates them with a passion. He was "jacked up" for this game because it was his last appearance in Neyland and nothing was happening in our passing game, (see below). He's a high-spirited, competitive player and their could have been words said prior to that play by a Vandy player(s). No flags were thrown because the crowd around JJ shielded the ref's view. Overall I don't think Pruitt is going to be happy about his actions. Could have cost the team in several ways.
Our passing game is our best offensive strength and it was non-existent last night. May very well have been the weather. We really were in great shape to set-up play-action type passes and Chaney didn't. Offensive play calling was flat and super conservative. Although Chaney wasn't run out at UGA moves were made to make Coley co-offensive coordinator and they didn't make any effort to retain CJC. The maxim states "put on more steam" and he didn't. I can see why JJ was pissed because I was too. We should have put 50 on them and made a statement. Sorry for the long post but that type of play isn't what we need going into a bowl. We took steps backwards offensively,imo. So we had a freshman RB make 2 long runs and other than that our run game was basically shut down because Vandy knew it was coming. Had Chaney mixed in the pass out of our run formations we'd had more success,imo. I hope CJP chews CJC'S butt out for this. We need recruits. I'm glad DWA had a good game and we went to the TE because D.Washington was visiting last nite.

Pretty surprised by the number of people on here saying Jennings isn't the type of player to do that. He's lost his cool on and off the field since he got here day one. That passion is also what makes him great but I've always felt he was right on the edge of a big incident.

That being said I'm not sure about this one. I've tried to watch it without bias. Hard to do as a fan. He definitely ripped the helmet but I still can't say he stepped on him intentionally.

This is ridiculous. Look where Jennings eyes are while he gets up. He is looking up in the stands when he starts to get up and never looks back at that guy. If he was trying to step on his face he would have at the very least looked away right before it happened.

He's standing right beside him. I think he probably had a good idea where his head was at. Especially since he took the helmet off.
