Sexton has screwed Tennessee many times. Can't stand him
I don't know him so I can't say that, but I do have some disdain for this specialized profession. I suppose it takes a certain kind of individual to be good at it like Sexton. They have capitalized on the massive amounts of money the big schools have made from TV contracts. He and those like him are just a middle player in the game. It isn't his fault schools are willing to fork over the money for a successful coach

Blaming Sexton is like blaming the Chinese for "stealing" U.S. manufacturing jobs, U.S. industry and other manufacturers made the decision to build, assemble and construct in China, not the Chinese government, Tennessee's problems are all self inflicted with pizz poor leadership over the last 15 years, the jury is still out on Baseball Randy, although he did let Tony V slide away. White Danny is showing some leadership, but the Heupel hire came after a number of rejections, including James Franklin, and the downward spiral White Danny watched at the Central Florida football program is being replicated at Tennessee.

Don't blame Sexton, blame the U.T. administration, Hamilton, Handsome Dave Hart, John Curry and Phil "money grab" Fulmer for panic football hires and lacking of a plan B, lack of a vetting consultant, panic and desperation, easy money for Sexton.

He's a plague on CFB. These insane contracts he negotiated has been a big part of why ticket prices are so damn high.
As much as I like to bitch about ticket prices, it has nothing to do with coaching salaries, and everything to do with the fans who will repeatedly pay championship prices to watch us go squander games away yearly. As long as those seats are full they will continue to go up.

You can literally say this about a couple of handfuls of big schools. The list is getting longer of Universities who have paid far more for buyouts of coached than UT.

He literally paid his dues. He either paid tuition or had parents pay it or scholarship(s) pay it. Either way, if you think about it, he really doesn’t owe UT anything. Saying that, we make yearly donations. But, not enough to put our name on a building or run through the T.

This topic has interested me for years. How can a business relationship be so one sided for so long. I don’t understand how University Athletic Departments continue to “negotiate” such one sided deals. Usually in business such an out of balance situation only lasts a few years until the disadvantaged side figures out how to apply leverage to even the odds. Is Jimmy that smart? I struggle to believe that all the AD’s are that stupid. Regardless I would put Jimmy up there with Buffet and Musk as one of America’s most successful businessmen.
