Jimmie Kimmel Show gone !

You are totally missing the point.

The cancellation of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" is only a controversy right now because of Brendan Carr's public statement which included a threat directed at ABC, and mentioned "Kimmel." The government should have stayed out of this matter, but they didn't. This is a free speech issue because of what Brendan Carr said.
So why won’t he just read an apology? Problem solved for everyone.

The fact that this blowhard is critical of Kimmel proves that Kimmel was right.

but he wasn't right - he was completely wrong in his assertion.

I laugh at Erin Burnette saying his job is to speak truth to power - well, you need to speak the truth first then you can direct it at power.

doesn't justify the FCC comments but people are so tribal on this they abandon facts to stick with team narrative

Here's a big pile of whataboutism - how many of the people highly concerned about the government pressuring a company to deplatform someone spoke out against the Biden admin pressuring social media companies to deplatform voices that didn't toe the government line on Covid?

What did the Biden admin leverage against social media companies to censor Covid misinformation?

I'm old enough to remember Kathleen Sebelius pressuring health insurers (who fell under her regulatory control) to donate to a not-for-profit promoting ACA, it was run by a bunch of former Obama admin members.

Here's a helpful hint - if you don't want government to coerce businesses the vote for candidates that believe in reducing the size and scope of government. Don't be all surprised when you vote for big government and big government does big government things.

In the words of OE:

government = failure

Right to make his point. I should have been clearer.

Point is, when the President starts making subjective judgements about who is saying enough nice things about him, or too many negative things, and then cajoling networks into hiring or firing based on that, its the antithesis of the First Amendment.

And that is true ESPECIALLY when the President is an egomaniacal, thin-skinned, narcissist like Trump.

I did some digging. FCC suit made comments Monday (9/15) according to Monty's op in boycott thread.
Your link dated 9/17 references earlier this morning. Even if those discussions started the day before (9/16), it's still after the FCC suites statements.

Or, am I off?
I understand that Carr made his comments Wednesday afternoon.

I don’t know if his comments were before or after ABC suspended Kimmel.

The post I responded to was trying to equate Carano's firing with Kimmel's, but now you want to change the subject to Facebook and Twitter blocking covid misinformation at the the request of the feds?

Requests that they were under no legal obligation to honor, but chose to do so.
You see the parallel?

And it also turns out a lot of what was being distributed wasn't misinformation after all

I cannot find that thread.

This is interesting wrt to your question:

Pkease do me a favor. Look at Monty's op in the boycott thread. See if I am talking about the same FCC comments as everyone else? I may all jacked up on the convo this whole day.

Fox agreed to pay $787 million to Dominion Voting Systems.
And clearly haven't learned a damn thing. If course, now they are on Trump's side so they don't have anything to worry about since that's all you really need. Kiss the ring and you're protected. Sure sounds like facism.

Requests???

Stop being naive.
