I'm not sure about Leavitt. He might be great but..... He did build USF but its location is prime for building a good team. The Tampa area has Clearwater Beach and Ybor City down the street. It shouldn't be a tough sell and there is plenty of talent left over in Florida even after the Gators, Seminoles and Hurricanes get their players. Also, they play in the Bucs stadium so they can draw a big crowd. I still don't know why they are called South Florida and located in Tampa but I can see why players would go there.

This guy "GRIFF" is an absolute idiot. He doesn't think Leach would fit in at UT because he's unconventional and the job is "regal." What an absurd comment: Yea, give us another boring moron who for 10 years (!) says nothing other than "we'll have to look at film" and "work like heck" blah, blah. Are you kidding? Leach would be a breath of fresh air. He also asserts that enthusiasm for the hoop team has dimmed based on no sellout in the first game against a div. ii school. Again, the guy is clueless: No wonder he likes Fulmer--not very sharp.
Yeah considering he just lost 49-16 at home to Rutgers, I'm sure he's very high on the UT list. He's the same coach that 2 years ago said USF was a better job and program than Alabama.
I can't believe only 33 posts have been dedicated to a guy that is clearly on UT's radar if not #2 on their wish list. Let's get some discussion going on the merits of Leavitt and what really kept him at South Florida (family concerns?) vs. going to Bama or Miami both of which offered him a job. What's the deal? If he's that far on the radar, there has to be some chance of him coming, right? Let's talk.
Sing it, bro! The Leaches are being outnumbered but he will remain my guy until they announce Kiffin or Leavitt or some other terrible choice. No, but the Leach haters like to say "he turned the USF program around". Hell he's the only coach they've ever had. He's 85-51 overall. Never won his conference, and is 1-2 in bowl appearances. The Leach detractors like to use "it took him 9 years to get to this point". Well Leavitt's been coaching since '95 and hasn't won a championship and hasn't finished better than a tie for third in the Big lEast.

Listen, I'm not lobbying for or against the guy, but let's at least give him credit for what he's done at USF. Correct, he did not 'turn the program around'; more impressively, he built the program from the ground up. USF spent a few years in 1-AA, then a couple at C-USA, then to a (albeit weak) BCS conference. In eleven seasons ,USF has had only 2 losing records and has been to 3 bowl games. To accomplish this when there was not a football program at all 12 years ago is impressive. It would be hard to imagine a better start to a program!
Like I said, I don't know that he is the right guy for Tennessee, and honestly I think he has a better chance of success where he is.

Much better choice than Leach.
