AJ, if i had 100 likes to give you would get them all. Well done.

Ok so rebuilding is not a process.

Idiotic thinking expects instant results.

Sorry, you don't take a wrecked program and sprinkle some Grudeaid on it and it magically wins a NC.

The rule of thumb is that a coach gets 3 years to earn a 4th. Please give me one good example of what Dooley has done to earn a 4th year. He is 0-15 in October for 3 straight years. He has yet to beat a ranked team. He has lost every game he's coached here when trailing at half time. Our winning streak against Kentucky was snapped under his watch to what was arguably the worst KY team during that streak. His recruiting classes have consistently been ranked in the lower half of the conference with this year's poised to be his worst one. Ticket sales, along with national interest continues to plummet.

You cannot simply say "3 years is not enough" without looking at all the events that has made up those first 3 years. We are DROWNING as a program and you cannot operate under the assumption that everyone else in the conference is going to suddenly get worse in order for us to start winning!

This is not a defense, just a reality check.

1. Collective record of the 5 teams we have lost to as of this morning: 36-5.
2. SC has lost @ LSU and @ FL.
3. FL has lost to GA @Jacksonville.
4. GA has lost @SC.
5. AL undefeated.

If we win out and win a bowl game, how do you fire CDD based on the above loses (that we were close in 3 and absolutely should have won 2) and winning 8 games. What would that say to potential coaches?

Your post makes too much sense. Nonetheless people will define competiveness as no progress.

It means we still have games to play so everyone needs to STFU and support this team and staff.

Always support the men and women that wear orange and white. Coaches are employees....they are paid to do a job. They come and go. But Tennessee Football and Basketball will always be here.

Employees are just that. If they are not proving they deserve to earn the big money they are being paid....then why are we wasting money paying them to underachieve? People get fired all the time for not doing what is expected of them....that is the business side of it.

We owe Derek Dooley nothing. He took a job and new what he was getting into and said he could fix it. We are not gaining on any of the programs we need to to put us in SEC Title contention. Dooley is being out recruited, can't win S.E.C. games, now has the worse Tennessee defense in the history of the program, and even lost to Kentucky with a WR at QB. He is not making any ground on getting this program caught up to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Bama, and LSU....we are way behind them in recruiting and coaching.

With all that being said....is the University of Tennessee getting $1,800,000 a year worth of coaching in the right direction from Dooley?

It all comes down to money. Empty seats And 40% Bama fans in our house got CPF fired. The same thing will get CPF fired. Most likely this year.

Right and wrong are not relevant.

Dooley isn't going anywhere any time soon.

its a process..we are in the middle of a process.

And 3 years isn't that long... sorry.. Its not..

How long do we have to wait? Because shy of a decade I'd like to see this program get back to winning.

Would you let someone remodel your bathroom over 3 years?.. Or run your company with zero results for 3 years?

I saw Jim Haslam Sr. at the Dailey and Vincent bluegrass concert at Maryville college tonight. I worked up the nerve to go up to him and ask about the JG situation. I just came out and said, "Are we going to get Gruden?" He responded with a laugh that lasted about 30 seconds. I then said, "I guess that means NO." He said, "No one knows, but remember one thing. The season is not over yet. Just remember that. The season is not over yet." I am not really sure if we can read into it or not, but I thought that was a very interesting response. BTW, he was a VERY nice gentleman!
He is not going to tell you that Gruden is a done deal.

And that can be turned around to say the teams we beat are a combined 7-19. The only win you could say was good was NC State and they played the worst game of the year and we played our best.

You should have told him that, just because there are games left on the schedule, that does not mean this season isn't over in the disheartened minds of Vol supporters everywhere. The results of the remaining games aren't going to affect Dooley's appraisal nearly as much as the first 8 games of the, so far miserable, season.

Ummmm....I missed that rule of thumb in the "rule of thumb for hiring and firing college coaches" course I took last semester....The truth??? There is no rule of thumb....we must proceed slowly and not let hotheads and silliness COMPLETELY DESTORY OUR PROGRAM!!!!...otherwise I agree with some of what you said....To quote my good freind and colleague Andy Taylor...."That's just plain silly"

Using other teams to define our inability to win makes sense. We suck but that's ok. The other teams are better. Process implies a better end state. I have zero confidence Dooley is a top level SEC coach. Zero.

Winning head football coaches are full of 110% confidence of their ability to do just that....win period. If you think a potential head coach would not be telling Dave Hart, "Oh yeah...I would have Tennessee in 1st place in the S.E.C. East with the talent that is there!" I would also believe that the potential head coach would know that Hart is turning to him to come here with his proven track record of being a winner and make us an elite program again. Common sense should tell anyone if you know how to make losers winners then that is why they are having the interview in the first place.

There are three main points in this thread:

Dooley is in over his head (I agree)
Obama is in over his head (I agree)
Jim Haslam Sr. went to a bluegrass concert (not too sure about that one)

If Dooley wins the next four, he has a reasonable shot at staying. If he loses any one of them, I think he is gone.

Go Troy?

Oh, I am just kidding. If Dools can win these final four games, it does show improvement. I fully support the team. Go Vols!

Oh darn fellas, we'd like to win but, gee willickers those other teams are just too darn good! That is such a BS excuse! News flash, those teams are going to ALWAYS be good!! What exactly do you see in our future that leads you to think this will ever change?? Is it our top 3 recruiting classes? Oh wait! That's right! We haven't had one of those under Dooley.

Folks, WAKE UP!!!! We cannot sit around and wait for the rest of the SEC to get weaker in order for us to start winning! The only way we are going to win in this conference is if we take the initiative to make our program better! That's not going to happen under Dooley. Looking at his first 3 years and the recruiting trends will tell you that! His recruiting classes have progressively ranked lower in each year he's been here! We are currently ranked 20th nationally and second to last in the SEC in recruiting! Why do you think we are magically going to win in this conference with those kinds of numbers??
