Gray and Chandler go down way to easy. You really don’t see any Yards after contact from either. In the past we’ve had a better run game with a way lower overall quality o line due to having a good feature back who had speed and size. Do we have anyone on campus or recruit wise who may eventually fill this glaring hole? Will Cody Brown be that guy? Its nuts that a 2021 recruit is already bigger than our current RBs by 25 lbs

Love Cody Brown he may not have blazing speed but his ability to see hole make cuts and run with Power reminds me of the Cheese so much. he is what we need. It will also be interesting when Whitehead gets a chance for the Coaches to make a full Evaluation of him is he a RB or MB. In CHRIST Alone

Brown, Hodge, Gray, then either Beckwith/Whitehead sounds like a good combo. Similiar to Hurd, Kamara, with Kelly and Fils-Ames getting some reps. Two veterans and two learning and getting reps is the way to go. I did leave out J.Small who just needs reps as a freshman. Tim Jordan was our best blocking back and UT missed him at UGA,IMO.

We did miss T Jordan Physical presence in this game.

There someone has done it again...... Kamara,,, How do we know what his best use was/would have been at UT. The only way to even guess at it is to look no further than last night. He was the feature back, he was the back out of the backfield on pass plays, he made one of the best catches down field (like a great outside receiver) the NFL will have this year and when need he gave his team a really good kickoff return when they really needed it. Makes me sick AGAIN to think how poorly our staff used or misused or just didn't use him while he was on the hill.

Biggest problem along with oline

The biggest problem with the oline is having a QB who can't read a defense and change the presnap protection.

The second biggest problem with the online is that they are coached by Will Friend.

We fix the first two problems, we'll be able to open up the running game with the backs we have on the roster.

The biggest problem is that we were playing Georgia. They will bounce back this week. Friend is not going anywhere.

He’s not a feature back RUNNING wise. Dynamic as a change up but no workhorse. Needs a Mark Ingram type to complement. After Hurd departed, he couldn’t hold up against SC. It’s a BVS thing to lament perceived loss. He led the SEC in total yards in 2016 and had less yards rushing than the preceding season. We definitely could have used him more, but a majority of posters here were inconsolable after Hurd was announced out for the A&M game. Met up with @UT_Dutchman at a tailgate and we were excited about the possibilities with Hurd/Kelly...we were in the minority. He needed a Kelly at least...even then. He can’t be that centerpiece in the backfield for an entire NFL season. Even last night he had 45 yards rushing...that’s not dominant.

If our o line continues to underperform this season, then JP may have no other choice but to move on from WF. If JP cares about moving this program forward & values his job, he should look for position coach upgrades and not worry about his pals. WF has two legit NFL players to coach along with two talented tackles that could have chosen to play at just about any major program. This is the most quality depth we have had in years. WF needs to show he is a legit o line coach in this league worth the money being paid by UT. I am very interested to see how the o line plays the rest of the year.

That is just dumb. The running game is not ineffective or effective because of the qb. The Rb and oline have 90% of the running game responsibility.
