Jerry Colquitt critical of Dooley on starting Worley

There's no coach in the country that would led the Vols to victories over LSU and Alabama this season. If you disagree with that then there is no doubt in my mind that you are in way over your head as a Volnation poster.

I defy you to find where I've said we should have beaten either of them.

I've never seen more people willing to throw a season away to keep a redshirt on a kid. He may not be ready , but yeah he gives Tennessee their best chance to win. I don't get all the harping over it. Get over it. Worley will be much more prepared next year. Bray will be better because of it. I only see good things out of all this. Maybe not for this week, they may very well lose, but the positives for the future outweigh the negative, IMO.

The coaches know what they have with Simms and it's not much....taking a chance on Worley tells me they will do whatever they can to win and win now. If Worley comes in a stinks it up then they can always redshirt him next year....I personally agree with you and respect their decision. Colquitt is probably jealous that he waited his whole career to play and then blew out the knee...

Jerry is 100%. It was a burned redshirt. For no reason. And before the high and mighty join in to defend the coach that cannot win, Jerry PLAYED and lived what he is speaking of. I am sure he has seen it on several levels. Put the blame where it belongs... On this coaching staff...

Yeah, but if DD wasn't willing to jump him in the order to save a RS this year, why in the world would he do it next year when he's the true backup? He's not going to leave Bray for 4 quarters in blowouts next year, and based on his precedent from the other night, coupled with his statements where he basically said he didn't care about RS's, I think we missed our shot at 5 years with Worley.

and what makes you think that Worley was-is gonna stay for the full five years.you are saying that Bray is gone after his nJr. year, could apply to Worley also.:salute:

So if I find you one former player who agrees with it, then what?

I'm stunned at how stupid our fan base has become. How devoted to a coach over the team they have become. To the point where they are blinded by devotion to a guy who has a losing record here and his last job. To a guy who will be gone in a few years.
They turn their backs on guys who actually played here in order to support their new savior. Pathetic

pathetic BS from someone who is a volnation guru.

you call playing less then 7=downs in 5 years as PLAYING as in a whole game.:whistling:

The funny thing here is that Dooley has stated in the past that they don't 'hand' out redshirts until the back 1/3 of the season, due to changing circumstances and differing progression of players.

If Worley plays well tomorrow, these goobs here who say Dooley sucks will be singing his praises.

I wish that were true but seriously doubt it. Most will disappear. Some will just move on to some other baseless criticism built on assumptions about what "will" happen.

You are more than likely correct. A guy can hope though.

Dooley really had no choice but to burn Worley's redshirt. He knows he has to win and Worley gives him the best chance to win.

Yeah. You really have to love those who say that Dooley should be winning now but then complain when he takes the RS off Worley to give his team a chance... to win.

What does this guy know. Everybody said Auburn would get killed when they gave Clint Moseley his first start against LSU.

The last time I cared about Jerry Colquitt was the last game I saw Colquitt start.

That Manning feller seems capable enough.

What if the players asked the coach to put in Worley? More than likely they saw the wideouts and tight ends shacking their heads after every bad throw. But for some reason I really like Simms just not getting it done for some reason.

I have no problem with Colquitt having the opinion he has on the RS and Worley. I wouldn't have any problem if he praised taking the RS off. He paid his dues and was dealt a bad hand. Never understood why his med redshirt was denied.

just to clarify for those of you still thinking he is part of the Colquitt family, HE ISN'T! Just tired of seeing stick to punting posts and stuff when it isn't even them that said it! GO VOLS!

You don't get it. I don't hate Dooley. Never said I did. I'll bet you $1000 you cannot find where I have said that. But the blind devotion to the guy and willingness to turn on former players or anyone else critical of him is beyond belief.

Go bow down at your alter of the Losing coach we currently have.

His performance as head coach. I have zero issues with him personally, it's all professionally related. He is a good guy it seems. But there's no doubt in my mind he is in over his head. And he damned sure isn't above criticism like so many of you act.

For someone who doesn't hate Dooley, you come across as very bitter. Honest question, were you for or against Fulmer's departure?

Colquitt gave his all as a Vol. Unfortunately, his time was brief, but I still appreciate what he did for the university. He is entitled to his opinions, but others are entitled to disagree with his opinions. Personally, I feel Colquitt went too far, unfairly leveling accusations against CDD that have no merit. He's sensationalized his blog to get more hits, but his words could hurt UT. As a former player, he should support the program. IF he feels CDD is not a good enough coach and wants to say that, I'm fine with it, but to disparage CDD's character like he has, well that's just being a whiny little pussy, pardon my French. You can disagree with a coach's opinion and not say he lied about caring for a kid and his future and blah, blah, blah. How does JC know CDD's thoughts? He doesn't. IMO, Dooley is doing what he feels is the best for the TEAM. It may not be what's best for Worley, who knows at this point, but ANY former player should know it's about TEAM first.

I respect what Colquitt brought to UT. I respect that he has his own opinions. I do not respect that he attacked CDD in such a cowardly way. Just because he played here, doesn't make him right. If that were the case, I guess we could use LL and others as proof that it's okay to drink and drive. It's just such an inane idea that your opinion carries more weight because you played here. You cannot seriously believe that. And if JC is so much better at making coaching decisions, why isn't he a coach somewhere? Not all players can be good coaches, and not all players and their opinions deserve to be put up on pedestals. I'm all for fair criticism of Dooley, but the key word is fair.

Third cousin, twice removed.

Nope, Jerry just doesn't want to see another Senior lose his job to a potential superstar and that senior be religated to obscurity.
