Jerod Mayo

If people remember. Jerrod Mayo had a hectic start to his college career. People were calling him a bust after 2 years

JJ Peterson is a similar type player at this stage. Sometimes a takes a bit to get footing.

With Crouch, Harrison, and To'oto'o running with him, You'll see him reach his potential.

Just heard from on the radio that he was the pats LB coach now and was excelling and probably going to be calling a majority of the defensive plays! That’s awesome! Dude was an absolute stud!

He was a great player for Vols and had great career in NFL,...…………….

He's one of my favorites. Why? After the Marshall game, I was hanging out Gate 21 with my kids.. letting them get autographs. Mayo, not only engaged my kids and granted them the autographs, he chatted with them, talked about sacks and chatted with me for more than 10 minutes. Really impressed with him and his career has confirmed my impressions of him that night.

Edit: The young man in the orange hat now holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee.

Smart guy too. I remember reading that Bellicheck & Co put him thru the ringer pre-draft on film /schemes etc. Mayo blew their minds and they had their guy right then. Awesome Vol!

Congrats to Mayo, if this is the case...he certainly will be working with some of the greatest minds in football. And I am NOT a Pats fan...but, you can’t deny the Dynasty...

If he stays on this trajectory, I'm sure he'll earn his shot as a head coach. UT had a great run of linebackers under Fulmer.

Yeah, gotta give the devil his due. I can’t stand the Pats either but Nick Saban’s mentor’s record speaks for itself.

These were the typical Va Beach guys we used to land on thd regular. Pruitt really needs to get back into that area, IMO. The level and talent in that region is as good as anywhere in the Country.

AJ Johnson was pretty great but got royally screwed.

AJ wasn't close to what Mayo was

Stats show who’s better.. so to say he wasn’t close to what mayo was, is an extremely foolish statement.

If I remember correctly, he was supposed to have the Air Force guy that Inky ended up tackling and getting injured. Not blaming Mayo but that was back when Tennessee had studs everywhere and could compete.

I knew he was special after he destroyed Cal's o line in 2006.
