You need a space-eating DT. UT doesn't have that. I wouldn't be suprised to see some 3-4 fronts, but it will not be the main defense.
It might just be that "stopping the option" is what we're after. Putting Mayo on the end certainly increases the speed at the position, allowing him to get off his block and chase down a pitch man or QB if needed.
We have no NT, that is why it won't work. You wanna good look at how the 3-4 looks without the proper personnel? Watch ND. They are trying the 3-4 because they have similar personnel(size-wise) as us. It doesn't work too well when you are using a NT that weighs 290 or less.

It's too late to teach Mayo/Martin the position and the coaching staff doesn't have the courage to tell Mitchell, Reynolds, and Ayers they aren't getting it done and they are now playing on 2nd team DL behind Bolden, Williams, and Mapu.
