Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

Why don't you tell us what REALLY matters? Or tell us what SHOULD matter to us. Last night you were preaching how important it is for us all to remember our losses to GaSt. And BYU and the 34-3 beat down we got from Florida. You were pissed off because others dared to question you about why you wouldn't let go.

You seem to look forward to the beat down we're about to get from Georgia. Tell us, What is REALLY important?
Now Bear, we almost had the thread turned in a somewhat light hearted, comical direction. Can’t we all just get along? 😬

Edit: Behr... I hate this damn phone. 🤬

I disagree with most of what you are saying on this issue....but the assertion that he was drunk or high is patently false, and I don't know where people are coming up with that. The incident was bad enough on it's face...it does not need incorrect information injected into the discussion.

Because of how strange his actions are. He goes from idk my address to o yeah it’s “blah blah” from we shoot cops to “y’all the nicest cops” and then back to “you don’t wanna see me without that badge”.

If I arrested someone acting that crazy, I’d think they were on something

Apparently making sure key players get to play in important games. What they can do for the football team is of utmost importance...no matter they’re behavior, or the negative national attention they bring.

That, and getting under your skin.

You have an enjoyable day Behr.

We’re glad you chose a different career path?

But he wasn’t even accused of that by the officers. That’s all we can go by. And, in all instances I am a “innocent until proven guilty” guy. I trust the officers on anything over and above the conduct I could see with my own eyes.

You don't get under my skin, I'm just trying to figure out which side of your mouth I want to pay attention to.

Sure he wasn’t accused of that, but I’m a bit curious about the officers. They seem to go out of their way for him. So I don’t think they wanted to know if he was on something. And innocent until proven guilty is about the judicial system. Not public opinion. I can watch a video and believe someone is most likely high without having any further evidence. There’s no beyond a reasonable doubt when it comes to opinion.

Have your opinion...that’s reasonable. But I won’t impugn the officers. Can’t believe they wouldn’t charge him for being impaired after a traffic stop if he was.

This whole situation was handled poorly. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sure the officer regrets even allowing him to make that phone call. Pruitt should have asked where he would taken and let it be. With the attention this has received, I would probably release him from the team. If not, he would be sitting for 2-3 games and doing community service.

A poster equated me with Kim Jong-Un for that same suggestion. Seriously.
Inmates are running the place...

To answer your question, it's not okay for him to speak to police that way and it's my belief that he does deserve some time of punishment. IMO, this does not merit dismissal (which is the point of the thread)

I also respectfully disagree with your assumption about coddling. People in general, and especially kids, are shaped by their own personal experiences and upbringing........

For example, sometimes kids have good parents, sometimes kids are born without good parents, sometimes kids attend good schools with good teachers, sometimes kids aren't fortunate enough to attend good schools with good teachers....Sometimes kids are raised up in church or have access to people/places in their community that has the to help them in the case they don't have the aforementioned things....It's ironic that many kids that didn't have these things growing up, refer that it as being "coddled".....

I believe, as much as we want to believe that someone like JB is a grown man, I'm of the mindset that he isn't and he, along with most everyone else his age, is learning how to be a man presently. I know this because I there are people, including myself, that made really dumb comments at 19.......(Remember, JB's comments are really what people are upset about....and rightfully so)...

I don't know JB's story and I've already said his statements and attitude was out of line.... The point is that I don't think we can assume all 19 year olds are the same. Many still, unfortunately, haven't learned some of the life lessons you or I might have learned at 19....What I am hoping for is that this WAS a lesson and it has changed him in a productive way. Because lets keep this in perspective: no dope, no alcohol, no sexual assault, no stealing, no fighting, etc, etc......I don't know that kicking the kid out of school for his comments is the most effective way to teach he and his teammates the right lesson about "personal accountability".........

If I was the judge and jury in a fantasy world, I'd suspend him 1 game and have him meet once a week with someone like Al Wilson for mentoring. Hopefully, there would be a little talk about LB play sprinkled in....

You made some very good points. What Banks said was very very very bad. But I don't believe he should be kicked off of the team either; punish him in some way and let it be a teaching lesson to make a better man out of him. I believe everyone in matters such as this should be given a second chance. And this is not by any means saying Banks was justified in the things he said.

They didn't charge him with driving on suspended license. Look they were trying to help the young man.
I agree. They were more than accommodating. They have discretion with that charge as I understand it....they would not with a DUI/DWI.

I think people are just assuming because they can’t imagine someone being that stupid without the aid of drugs or alcohol.

I’ll give them a pass, as I can see where they are coming from.
LOL EXACTLY

That is the kind of BS you expect to hear from an inebriated person.

I'm glad he wasn't charged with DUI - the cops were ridiculously patient with him anatagonizing them. In particular, his comments to the female officer were disgusting - men should not speak to women that way.

Nonetheless, they took him for a nothing burger warrant that could have been cleared up in few hours and he made in astronmically worse by acting like a complete fool.

He should know better than to tell cops he'll seem them around and stuff like that - if I was Pruitt I'd tell him to cut his hair and grow a beard and lay as low as he possibly can

He's stupid if he thinks those cops will forget what he said. They are sure as hell a lot less likely to give him the benefit of the doubt if he runs afoul of them in the future

It should be a suspension for him, honestly.

I'm not sad there isn't one, but it ain't a great look for the U of T. But then again, NOTHING about this season has looked good for us so...

When it rains...

I'm with you. It's important to note, there are grounds/incidents worthy of immediate dismissal, but this doesn't come close IMO....

If I could like this post more than once I would.

There’s discretion on almost any charge. Like the discretion not to test him to begin with.

There’s no discretion on the warrant. They ran his name and it said to take him in.

Given his age, I can accept not dismissing him. I can’t agree that it doesn’t come close. If he would have made a more blatant threat especially to the female officer, he should have been dismissed immediately.

I believe an officer could clear this up...there is no discretion on a DUI/ DWI by state law, due to the potential consequences. I could be wrong, but believe that is the case.

If you think he was hammered, that’s fine. I’ll have to defer to the officers on scene. I’m no fan of the kid, and won’t defend his actions, but I can’t pour fuel on a bad situation by adding something that’s just not there.
