Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

I know many feel this way....which is why we're doomed.
boro, tell me I didn’t have to use blue font in my previous post. I’m as competitive as they come but not at all cost. I’m not happy about what Banks did but I also don’t think he should be booted for a galacticly stupid moment and I’m good with whatever the staff decide.

Been there and done that minus the threats only because I was drunk and didn’t think of it. Luckily the cop let me go (I wasn’t driving) and I learned a lesson. Time will tell if Banks learns from this.

You didn't need to...which is why I said "many feel this way".

I don't disagree...I've said he deserves a second chance. Most everybody does. What chaps my @$$ is those that defend his actions as insignificant, and are only concerned with what he can do for the football team on Saturdays.

I dont think he should be kicked off the team or anything but same as threatening a cop shouldn't go without some form of punishment. That kind of tells him that it is ok to threaten people. Not to mention what he said to the "blondie"

I hear you. You got the flip side to though, equally maddening, those that act like it’s bloody murder and make up total BS just to support a BS narrative.

Edit: anyone reading mine and boros side convo, please God don’t let it rejuvenate this whole mess of a thread.

Popeyes is open on sunday, just sayin

I don't like Popeye's. Closest one to me is in a truck-stop anyway. I once worked in trucking, and do my best to never eat in truck-stops now.

I just eat something else on Sundays.

I hate to join in with the hype, but that chicken sandwich Popeye's had briefly was better than cfa, imo.

They dont have a choice, any citizen can ride with a. Officer after a records check. Plus most officers like the chance to educate someone like him. Makes their job easier in the long run

"They" meaning officers "certainly have a choice" in if they let a non-arrested person in their patrol car on duty. Much of a police officers job is access to the public and yes, most officers welcome it but not required. If anything the departments themselves may be required to allow certain access to their procedures but not a blanket statement. I could decide to just show up and request a ride along but I do not have any guarantee or right to the ride along.

Most departments have some sort of program, weather it be a citizens police academy or generally allow people to ride along. However a specific officers may refuse riders. Much of this is department dependant and state dependant.

To make a blanket statement and infer specific officers don't have a choice is making too much of an assumption.

So because he doesn’t view police in a positive manner it is okay for him to speak this way? Add to that perhaps he didn’t view his teachers in a positive manner either so we can excuse this type of behavior there too. So he only has to be respectful if he respects you? Come on—this is what is wrong! What happened to respecting your elders and authority? Doesn’t mean you have to agree with them. These kids get coddled in school—it is their culture, their home life, you must have provoked them etc. Never about personal responsibility anymore. And then when they act this way we continue to excuse them. Just an immature 19 year old...
My question then—at what age is this no longer acceptable? 21? 25? 40? Or it is always okay because this is society today?
A little bit of common decency and manners goes a long way.

To answer your question, it's not okay for him to speak to police that way and it's my belief that he does deserve some time of punishment. IMO, this does not merit dismissal (which is the point of the thread)

I also respectfully disagree with your assumption about coddling. People in general, and especially kids, are shaped by their own personal experiences and upbringing........

For example, sometimes kids have good parents, sometimes kids are born without good parents, sometimes kids attend good schools with good teachers, sometimes kids aren't fortunate enough to attend good schools with good teachers....Sometimes kids are raised up in church or have access to people/places in their community that has the to help them in the case they don't have the aforementioned things....It's ironic that many kids that didn't have these things growing up, refer that it as being "coddled".....

I believe, as much as we want to believe that someone like JB is a grown man, I'm of the mindset that he isn't and he, along with most everyone else his age, is learning how to be a man presently. I know this because I there are people, including myself, that made really dumb comments at 19.......(Remember, JB's comments are really what people are upset about....and rightfully so)...

I don't know JB's story and I've already said his statements and attitude was out of line.... The point is that I don't think we can assume all 19 year olds are the same. Many still, unfortunately, haven't learned some of the life lessons you or I might have learned at 19....What I am hoping for is that this WAS a lesson and it has changed him in a productive way. Because lets keep this in perspective: no dope, no alcohol, no sexual assault, no stealing, no fighting, etc, etc......I don't know that kicking the kid out of school for his comments is the most effective way to teach he and his teammates the right lesson about "personal accountability".........

If I was the judge and jury in a fantasy world, I'd suspend him 1 game and have him meet once a week with someone like Al Wilson for mentoring. Hopefully, there would be a little talk about LB play sprinkled in....

I disagree with most of what you are saying on this issue....but the assertion that he was drunk or high is patently false, and I don't know where people are coming up with that. The incident was bad enough on it's face...it does not need incorrect information injected into the discussion.

I think people are just assuming because they can’t imagine someone being that stupid without the aid of drugs or alcohol.

I’ll give them a pass, as I can see where they are coming from.

Definitely not true. Come to where I work and you’ll see....

No offense, but you could be upper management so I shall remain anonymous.... 😎

And isn't that what REALLY matters after all?

Why don't you tell us what REALLY matters? Or tell us what SHOULD matter to us. Last night you were preaching how important it is for us all to remember our losses to GaSt. And BYU and the 34-3 beat down we got from Florida. You were pissed off because others dared to question you about why you wouldn't let go.

You seem to look forward to the beat down we're about to get from Georgia. Tell us, What is REALLY important?

You obviously didn't watch the video. The only abuse came from Banks to kpd. They actually cut him a lot of slack, He was driving on suspended license, and was not charged for this. It was obvious he was either drunk or high on drugs, and no charge for this. The only ones who acted in a professional, courteous way was kpd. The video show the facts, Other talk is just opioms with no facts to back it up

If they wanted they could’ve probably got him on harassment charges, they could’ve done a field sobriety test and then took him in for bloodwork, they were not obligated to let him make multiple phone calls so his car could’ve ended up towed.

That’s the worst part is how hard they try to help him and how horrific he treats them
