Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

In your opinion......

The only way your opinion is right is if that cop agrees with you. That is unless you, yourself, are the arresting officer who happens to also be posting on this message board.

Why are you trying to force your feelings on someone who is a grown adult and can decide for themselves if they perceived it as a threat?

Do you not trust that the cop is an adult who can form his own thoughts and feelings?
How silly. Of course his words were threatening. It makes no difference whether anyone FELT threatened. It's not all about feelings. It's about behavior.

So you don't think the cop is capable of forming his own feelings and opinions?

Check.....

Well, that’s kind of the point. I don’t like what he did. He showed his ass BIG time. Ultimately though, he has NOT been charged with a crime and public opinion is exactly that. For me personally, I don’t give two sh!ts for public opinion. We’re going to have to hope Pruitt has dealt with what happened in a fair and proper manner and get over the fact we are not privy to details of the inner workings of the team.

So if I come up to you and say “I’m gonna kill you and family”, but you don’t believe I’m serious and don’t “feel” threatened, then I didn’t actually threaten you?

Yeah they didn’t have to arrest him, I’ve had a bench warrant for the Same bs. Cops need to go fight real crime.

When cops act this dumb it generally makes people angry and say stupid stuff. He wasn’t drunk high or carrying anything illegal, should’ve had someone come to pick him and the car up and let the court handle it. Cops get on power trips didn’t have to arrest the man.

When you are summoned to court and fail to appear....yep, they issue a warrant for your arrest. If they didn't how many people would just skip their court cases? Come on man.

That would be a direct threat to me and I would take it as such.

Now show me where Banks said "I'm going to shoot you cops"......

I will hang up and listen.

BY STATE LAW they had no latitude. They had to arrest him. Saying otherwise is incorrect and disingenuous.

They were polite and accommodating during the entire ordeal despite Mr. Banks conduct. They allowed someone to take his car home, allowed him to make multiple phone calls on his own phone. They allowed a passenger to get money for his bail from his car, and gave them all the information about where and when to pick him up.

I can understand your obvious bias against police, because neither you nor I would have been treated nearly as well under the same conditions....especially if we had behaved the way Mr. Banks did.

This whole situation was handled poorly. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm sure the officer regrets even allowing him to make that phone call. Pruitt should have asked where he would taken and let it be. With the attention this has received, I would probably release him from the team. If not, he would be sitting for 2-3 games and doing community service.

Also @KBVol , I’m more than capable of identifying what is a threat and what isn’t.

I don’t need a message board full of strangers feigning outrage to decide for me what is a threat.

Now do the quotes when they were at the station awaiting booking to her. Because it is very easy to cherrypick everything.

Once again, its not up to us to decide if she or the cop felt threatened. I will leave it in their capable hands to come up with their own feelings like I have said the whole time.

I don’t disagree as we’ve discussed....and while not “I’m gonna shoot you” it was a directly threatening comment....very similar to the question posed to you by @KBVol.

Had he said it to me I would have taken it as such.

I’ve seen enough of this act.

I’ll tell you a corporate story that we all probably know by now.

If I utter some sexual innuendo to a female at work, and she isn’t bothered, but another coworker hears it and is offended, I can be brought up on sexual harassment charges, even though I made no innuendos to the complaining party.

Likewise for veiled or direct physical threats. So what if Joe Bob doesn’t believe I’ll whip his ass in the parking lot, and isn’t bothered in the least. If Cletus reports it, I’m in the unemployment line, even though I wasn’t even addressing him.

Your point would hold water, if there wasn’t a video of the entire incident for the world to see.

So a few things:

What time can we expect you to show up to the police station to file a restraining order on Banks on this lady's behalf?

In both of those situations, the person you directed comments to would be interviewed before any action would be made.

Also you are comparing apples to oranges. College football is corporate life / hr department.

Both of those examples don't come close to comparing what was said by Banks or how the officers handled from arrest to booking at the station.

I know a few people that have bench warrants issued for failure to appear and were not picked up and arrested. One was pulled over again with the outstanding warrant and the cop wrote her a ticket and told her she needed to get the warrant cleared up ASAP. They have a certain amount of leeway depending on the issue.

Edit: I am in no way saying the cops did anything wrong here, they showed great restraint, only that they had other options.

No you’re not. Only the person the threat is made to is capable of identifying the threat, right?

You're bad at reading aren't you. But good thing you can post quotes and what not.

From KB's post:

"So if I come up to you and say 'I’m gonna kill you and family'"

That would be a threatening comment made at me as he said.

Maybe you need to read better.

The man man thinly veiled threats.

I don’t care which way you try to spin it. You’ve been doing it for 15 pages, and can do it 15 pages more. Won’t change the facts that the man made several threats, up to and including, the insinuation of shooting cops.

So how did you ...um, I mean "your friends" make out? Get all of your, damn it "your friends" warrants removed finally? Cool story bro. You and squib should hang man.
