Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

Very well said.......you'll be crucified on this thread though
No he won’t. He’s right. Most will not defend Banks and his actions. Those that do most likely didn’t watch the entire hour long video. The TMZ clip doesn’t show the worst of what happened.

Yet, despite the national embarrassment he and Pruitt have brought the University, most believe he deserves punishment and a second chance. One second chance.

We have a broken fan base, turning on itself. It’s sad to see. Much of it, in my opinion, comes from sidewalk FOOTBALL fans who’ve never seen the inside of a classroom at UT. They have nothing personally invested beyond where they sit in Neyland. They couldn’t tell you what else is going on around campus outside of football and maybe basketball, or why they love the SCHOOL. But they like to ridicule those who have pride in the piece of paper they have hanging in the wall, and have benefited from it, when those individuals want to hold our University to a higher standard.

The Banks incident is less concerning to me at this point, than the attitude of “football at all costs” of many of our fans. Unless you play football for Tennessee, your personal identity is not really Tennessee Football, whether you know it or not.

Flame away.

What you just said is fine. You’re making a guess. Totally fine.

But the people on here saying that they know better than the cop because they would feel threatened if someone said that to them are the crazy ones.

I’m not trying to force my opinions on anyone in this ordeal. I’m simply saying I’m not going to speak for the arresting officer who was with Banks throughout the whole ordeal. I trust the cop to be grown up enough to know if he feels threatened or not.

There’s more signs saying he wasn’t than he was. Apparently that offends people because of their manufactured outrage on a message board.

I didn't pay real close attention, but did any of the officers, or anyone involved actually say they did not ever feel threatened?

Can you prove that he wasn’t sober? If not, you’re just making an opinion trying to cast it as fact.

Second, the police report was released thanks FOIA’s and his car was searched and he consented to it. Are you saying the police report was made up?

You keep mentioning FOIA. I think you mean Tennessee Open Records Act (TCA 10-7-503). FOIA refers to federal government information requests and is not applicable to state and local government.

We've not heard from them that I know of.

If I was the female cadet, there would have been an order of protection sworn out on Banks for his comments....especially the one about never forgetting a face and seeing her around campus.

Great. Trey Wallace on his show last night they did FOIA's for it regarding the media outlets.

Are you saying he and other media members lied?

I think FOIA has become the catch-all phrase....it’s like saying Xerox machine, or Kleenex. I think TORA is the state level version.

Well, Im not going on a 'holier than thou Imma true fan and all of you sidewalk fans are beneath me" rant, I just noticed Squib keeps saying the officers didn't feel threatened, I just wanted to know how he knows that?

Nice to see you can juggle more than one point at a time. Way to keep it poignant to the current discussion.

If I had noticed it was you asking, I would have kept scrolling. My apologies.

Apology accepted, just don't let it happen again.

Cuz he would’ve been cited for it?

Feel free to tag me Behr.

Do you know that the officers felt scared and threatened by Banks and his words? Because there is a wide consensus here that they were. The only point I have made in this whole ordeal is the manufactured outrage by people here all starts "if that was me (talking about the cop), I would have taken that as a threat"

Well you know what, it wasn't you (not you specifically Behr)..... Unless a poster in this thread is the Cop, people's feelings on this matter really don't matter. For some reason, that is being taken as me saying "I know the cops didn't take it as a threat." Regardless, even if they did, they would made that clear with the footage during their debrief when the camera was still rolling. Additionally when the press reached out to the department for a statement, it would have been made a bigger deal since apparently the lady riding along is on campus with Banks.

Even in the event the officer felt threatened, it would have resulted in a far worse booking at the jail than it did. Outside of Banks jawing at him at the station, there was hardly anything threatening. Once again, what you or I perceive at threatening does not matter. Its what the two officers took it as. Hell go back and listen to the last 2-3 minutes of the cop and lady riding along doing a debrief before heading back out on patrol.

At the end of the day, I trust the police officer to be able to form his own feelings and opinions in his direct dealings with Banks that night. I don't think he needs a message board full of random people to tell him how he should or should not feel about Banks' words, actions and behavior that night. Do you?

I think the whole that stinks here is the fact that this video has come out so late.

Banks was punished and dealt with internally. Trying to relitigate it and say he should be punished again is dumb.

No, simply pointing out that you are misusing the term FOIA. I don't know who Trey Wallace is, but if he is supposed to be a journalist and said that he needs to go back to J-school for a refresher.

Nice answer to a yes or no question...

They didn’t let the warrant “slide”.
Come on man, work with me here. I'm not trying to win an argument or change anyone's opinion, I just axed a damn question that shouldn't be that hard to answer.

Is there no way anyone could have felt threatened, even a little, but just let it go, for whatever reason?
