Jennings suspended for first half of bowl game (merged)

I don't mind this a bit. If it wasn't intentional, then did JJ make any effort at all to apologize to the player afterwards? Not to my knowledge. And then that freakout-show he put on right after the play on the sideline looked like pure Mr. Hyde coming out of Dr. Jekyll. As much as I love JJ as a player and respect his remarkable turnaround, it looks like he still can have some moments of terribly poor judgement. I hope he matures and grows out of it. His Haynesworth moment should not be how he should be remembered..but he is responsible for it, nobody else.
Great post.!!!!

Once again the people who are charged with being responsible and ensuring fairness bow to outside influences and hand down a lukewarm ruling. If there is evidence that JJ did this on purpose (there isn’t), suspend him for the entire game. With a lack of evidence, stand up to the whimpering, whining masses and move on.

Half way I supposed.

Heres the stupidity. If you think his intentions were to stomp or step on a guys face (even if he wasnt successful) , why are you allowing him to play at all.
WhereverYou fall in this debate.... That really is the dumb part of this.

Very hard for me to look at that footage and believe it was accidental. Glad all he got was a half.

Surance, I have no idea what video u r looking at, nothing looked intentional to me. Intent would be LOOKING DOWN at the guy and making sure JJ did NOT miss stepping on him. JJ was not even paying any attention to the POS on the ground. He was just trying to stand up and celebrate with his teammates. He was looking back over his shoulder. Just one more example of the SEC offices trying to punish UT. As others have said, if this was a BAMA player there would be no suspension at all. It is a shame he will have to sit half the game over this.

I guess the positive is fans who were sure he did it can feel validated?

What?
Hey...HE'S THE ONE WHO DID IT!

None of us. Not the fans, coaches, or his TEAMMATES told him to do that. Why didn't think about them before he did that??

That Vandy player has parents. How would you feel if some 6'3" 215 pound guy stomped on your kids face with cleats!?

JJ did everything right up until that point. He destroyed that guy into out of bounds. But then acted like a GDF afterwards...

It upsets me that SO MANY of you defend this type act all because he's "JJ".

You keep saying this but there’s no evidence he did. And you cannot tell from any view what’s happening. The struggle is more than likely over the ball. When JJ stands up he appears to throw (or try to throw) whatever he’s struggling with. The helmet doesn’t move from where it’s at for the entire clip. The ball on the other hand,,,,,,,
I already told him that in the other thread. He don't care. He's made up his mind and now he wants to make up yours.

Vol Nation, it's time to have one of our owns backs. This is a complete and utter joke. Jennigns certainly didn't "stomp" on a player. This is unjust and wrong. Plain and simple. Where's the NCAA headquarters?

I heard a lengthy radio interview on Fox Sports Radio about how IF THEY WANTED schools could band together and totally eliminate the NCAA and there is nothing they could do about it. They could make it work and tell them to go to he**. It would almost be worth it to see those pompous scotch drinking fatso's lose their jobs and THEY have to claim outrage. I know this an SEC decision...just sayin'.

You understand what a stomp is don't you? It's a forceful kick downwards? Where's the force? He simply stood up and his foot met the dudes face as he did. That's literally all that happened.

What about ripping the players's helmet off. Put away your famdom for a moment

HUH?!? o_O Fandom has nothing to do with what I saw with MY eyes. Again, it did not look intentionally done to ME and you know obviously to the refs who were on the field too. Again, I don't agree with the suspension at all, but it is what it is. You have your opinion and I have mine. Have a good night!

great post and so true

Funny that the SEC didn't see it that way. How in the world did they miss that?
You have no idea whether the SEC saw it that way or not. The suspension is for a perceived stomp. I doubt they care what led to it.

Well, I hate Vandy more. CAFEGO WAS RIGHT!

Let's kick this rivalry up a couple of notches. I think the players understand owning this rivalry now.

1. Can’t tell if it was intentional or not, therefore it is not conclusive. One would have to assume.
2. Look at JJs helmet. His chin strap is over his eyes. Could he even see where he was stepping?! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also leads me to assume, since that’s the thing to do, that JJ was getting his helmet ripped off as well.

Drama much?

If JJ a "6'3" 215 pound guy stomped on your kids face with cleats" I bet my kids face would be so bad, they would have been forced to at the very least SUSPENDED HIM FOR THE WHOLE GAME!!!
