Jennings is a Niner

Randy Moss felt disrespected in the draft process and thought he fell too far before being drafted and always carried that chip on his shoulder. Whatever the reason, he was a baller. Hopefully JJ will be too! #Stealofthedraft
I like Jennings but Moss is not remotely a comparison. Moss was one of the fastest WRs in the history of the league; and despite falling, he was still drafted in the first round.

“BOOM”, “A STEAL”? Come on. Most 7th round picks don’t make it through the first roster cut. If he makes the practice squad he’ll be doing well and get a check. Maybe he can develop over a few years. Best wishes to him but the odds are overwhelmingly poor.

Thought he might go by 4th or 5th round. Hmmm. Hope he'll do well there. Will have to wait and see. Think only two Vols were drafted from what I say in the paper today.

So happy for JJ. He was the heart of this team for the last few years. The Leader. When it was crunch time, he would carry this team if need be. He landed on a roster where he will likely make the team and have a chance to be a good posession WR and excellent blocker in the run game.

Who will be the leaders on offense this year? That remains to be seen. We will be young and talented at WR, so it will likely be QB and RB on that side of the ball.

Yes! JJ is a Niner!

Now I'll have more reasons to watch my old home team again.

Time to shine, Young Man and I know you will!

Great news, just great news! Congratulations, Jauan, you earned it.

Moseley, Hurd and Jennings. Got to like it.

Not many 7th round draft picks make NFL rosters long term. There is a reason Jennings was drafted in the 7th round.
He’s got a decent chance for the Niners. We carried seven WRs on our opening roster last year. This year there’s likely five that for sure are safe, health permitting (Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Hurd, Trent Taylor). And four serious contenders for those last two spots (JJ, Richie James Jr, Dante Pettis, Travis Benjamin). Richie James has been a decent seventh receiver for us but a lot of his value came from being our return man and he was good but not great there, so Aiyuk might take over for him, diminishing his value. Benjamin is washed at this point, and Pettis despite being a second round pick two years ago and having a somewhat decent rookie year, regressed hard last year and is perpetually in Coach Shanahan’s dog house. So I can see a scenario where JJ makes the team as the back up slot behind Taylor, meaning Travis and Richie don’t make the team, or the backup outside receiver behind Deebo, Aiyuk, Kendrick, and Hurd, meaning Travis and Dante don’t make the team

Also JJ brings some size we’re lacking. Size doesn’t seem to matter much to Shanahan but it can’t hurt JJ’s case. He’s got at least two inches on all of those guys other than Jalen Hurd. And he can be a great gunner on special teams which isn’t true of any of our other receivers.

If you can’t tell by my username, I am psyched!!!!

Glad you are. Was hoping the Packers took him. I feel several people here all wanted him on their NFL team. And if that doesn't show how people feel about him as a player? Nothing does.

Heard some thoughts the Niners might move Hurd to TE. Which some here were saying about him as a freshman.

Funny you say that, had he not gone to us I would’ve wanted him to go to the packers. I say that because I always want at least one Vol to win the super bowl every year, and I believe the packers are the last NFC playoff team not to have at least one Vol on the roster after the hawks drafted DT (Though the cowboys or bucs in the NFC also don’t have Vols and could make big improvements this year)

I have seen that but only on this board. Hurd looked really good last preseason at WR, but a back injury put him on IR. But the 49ers have been trying to acquire a better #2 TE behind Kittle all offseason so it’s not impossible. We drafted a guy but he’s mainly a blocker and a replacement for our #3 TE who went elsewhere. Our number two TE last year was a guy named Ross Dwelley who isn’t terrible but certainly not the weapon they want. A lot of times when we went with 12 personnel last year our second TE was our fullback (or “offensive weapon” as they like to call him) Kyle Juszczyk

If you remember Daniel Helm who was a big recruit who signed here but transferred to Duke after Ethan Wolf beat him out, he’s also a TE we have who was on our practice squad but got called up the last few weeks of the season

If I’m not mistaken besides Moseley, Hurd and Jennings...isn’t Kongbo on the 49ers too? They at are giving him a chance i think.

Seldom get pissed off about the draft but...., my Packers passed on JJ and they are sooooo in need of a big time play maker for Rodgers. Good luck in San Fran and hope you do well, except against the Pack.
