They want to win. The insistence on it being a woman from Summitt’s coaching tree is solely held by the 60-80 year old women fans that are content with mediocrity as long as the “tradition is upheld”.

I am a "60-80 year old woman fan" and have watched and cheered for our Lady Vols since I was a UT student and Pat first coached them. I, and many like me, ARE NOT content with mediocrity and DO NOT insist that our new coach be a woman from Summitt's coaching tree. I want the best coach available so we can get back to being the best women's basketball team in the country.

So people won't be disappointed when he is not hired. I was very disappointed when I got the word he was no longer being considered.
