Jeff Lebby to interview for OC

Of those who remain I really like him the best. I don’t pretend to know anything that’s gone on to this point and won’t. I’m hoping that Pruitt is just working to find the best fit for both him and the team and being extremely selective. Names probably don’t matter as much as personality, style, and fit. I think of the 1980 US Hockey team and Herb Brooks cutting some of the best players in search of the “right ones”.

Can't play with the big boys though
Really? Blue font? I think they’ve shown they can on two occasions. Now, it may be that they can play with anyone if given time to prepare as in a bowl game but would struggle week in and week out in an SEC type conference. I kind of see them as the new Boise State.

Had 1 year at UCF with an established QB, the sample size with him is too small. The risk is too big

Let the whining begin. Genius fans had to Google him so therefore he's not qualified. Yurcich was at Shippensburg St. and somewhere else before Okie State. Freeze wasn't a household name until he was. My suggestion for all the whiners is to stop supporting UT football and find another program. Bunch of losers.

Why would he leave a defending national championship team to take a coordinator position?

We are going for “google me” coaches now...what the hell is Fulmer doing?
Fulmer? Maybe you haven’t noticed, but he’s not the head coach, this isn’t Fulmer’s hire, it’s Pruitt’s.

Btw, run down to the local watering hole this morning and tell Johnny hi for me.

From what I've gathered Lebby is essentially the quasi-OC at UCF. UCF plays at a very hyper-fast tempo a lot of times, so I'd hope if he was hired Pruitt could commit to it.

My main concern is UCF might be in a situation where Heupel is just running on Scott Frost's team for the most part. Plus they're so much better in terms of talent than the rest of their league that they could have run the T formation and still went 12-1 and won their league.

Luckily Lebby has his Baylor experience as well, or I'd share the same concerns. He turned Baylor into a great running team while there. Even had a season with 2 1k rushers...that personally is what I like about him. He has proven experience with developing/recruiting running backs AND it could allow Weinke to coach QBs.

UCF this year was very balanced too. About 260YPG rushing & passing.

If we're going to an "unknown" up and comer, Lebby is my top choice.

He was even a recruiting coordinator for a few years at Baylor. He knows offense, can/has proven he can create a balanced attack with big time success running the ball. UCF just broke their single season record for rushing under him at 3,318 this season. While ranking 3rd in total offense nationally.

Lebby has basically coached offenses that have scored over 30 points in almost every game he coached. On top of that he produced two 1000 yd rushers and has a great job as a QB coach at UCF.
How do you "basically coach" an offense when you have no control over play calls or game planning. He has even less experience than Helton.

We are taking a shot on a unknown he is a good candidate.

Obviously you didn’t do any research and he was the OC in the NAIA where he had a ton of success. Get back at me when you look up his coaching history.

This team could win 8 with a little luck got to win 7 to show the elite recruits we are trending upward a 6 win season or another 5 win season and the elite will think same old Tennessee, look at the schedule Kentucky Vandy and MIZZ WONT BE AS GOOD AS THEY WERE THIS YEAR, the first 3 we got a great chance at winning the UAB and South Carolina we can win thats 8 games we got a great chance at winning and we got 6 of them at home with Kentucky and Mizz on the road.

Oh I have seen that one year. I thought you were saying he was the one calling plays at UCF.

I think he would be a good hire if we are taking a shot. He doesn't have much experience calling plays though.

If it's seriously down to Tee and Lebby, I would just hire Tee. If you want to bring Lebby on in a small role, so be it but I think there's just too much risk with him

Well then we agree for once! Holy moly! Again I’m saying he is a good pickup if we are taking a long shot. In essence I think Pruitt will make the correct decision and he got stalemated on his first choice which seems to be Freeze.
