Probably been much talked about but I didn't see the game and I could not believe this stat. 1 yard rushing for the entire game!!
How can a division 1 football program do that???
Me thinks our overrated o-line sucks!

Look what this exact same O-line with the same quality running backs did in this game last year! It is not the O-line as much as it is Clawson's scheme he has the O-line running.

I dont remember them as being stellar last year. Ainge made them look much better. He would get rid of the ball very quickly sometimes too quickly.

They need to fire the whole coaching staff and Hambone. We need to start from scratch just like Bama did with Saban. We need to get a guy like Gruden, or Cowher, and pay them whatever the hell they want. Im tired of this good ole boy system Fulmer has going on down in Knoxville, and the boosters not wanting to fire him on account of him being their bud.

I'm talking about the running game. Look at the stats from last year to this year. Our running game has taken a hit.

Well it is partly because we cant pass. Isnt fulmer an old offensive line coach? Our o-line should be the best.
We do have a current O-line coach his name is Greg Adkins. You can tell him thank you for the wonderful job he is doing.

I agree when it comes to passing but when you are running a simple off tackle hand off to the tailback, all the line has to do is block the man in front of them! No fancy scheme on that. With just a minimal push by the center, guard and tackle you should get a couple of yards and we never did that the entire game! GA's d-line just plain kicked our o-lines butt. Its just that simple and IMO pathetic. I have passed shocked and angry to just depressed. :ill_h4h:

I think both of you are right. Our O-line coach has not impressed at all. Last year we didn't exactly scare anybody with the threat of the long ball either. I can't help but think the new O-line scheme Clawson has put into place has impacted the line negatively.

It has a lot to do with the personell. They are all way to big and slow, they can't get out on a pulling block, screen or upfield to the linebackers. This is the kind of 'o line that was great in the 90's but now the defensive speed has gotten to the point where smaller faster (quicker) linemen are needed. It's just another example of how out of touch CPF is with todays game.

Has anyone else here noticed that all we do is zone block...I know that this is what Clawson has done and what he does is move the o-line around depending on the play...This does 2 things...It does not let the lineman get comfortable in that side position and the other thing it does is tip off the play we are running...This flip flopping the line every play is downright stupid...I think Fulmer needs to coach the O-Line like they need to be and get back to pounding the rock...It also did not help that we only had the damn ball for 14 minutes the entire game...That alone is absolutely rediculous...Something has to change and I heard a caller this morning on the sports monster that said that it has been said today that there will be some sort of change this week...Maybe not the coach but a change...Not sure what that meant but something has to change

A few years back, UT switched to zone blocking system. I believe they spent some time out in Denver watching the Broncos. I think our coaches were impressed by the fact that any running back in their system seemed to do well and they used multiple backs. I don't think we've been successful running the ball since then, compared to the old "Pound The Rock" era of the 90's. Then add in Clawson's switching the linemen from one side to the other, that can't help, it must add to the confusion. It is so obvious that Hardesty ought to be the guy, the loyalty to Foster is commendable, but Hardesty is down hill, he explodes into the hole. UGA had 40+ running plays to our total 45 plays!

I believe Jimmy Himes said it was '05 that we switched to the zone blocking scheme and our running game has been down ever since, then again we have not had the quality backs that we had in the past.
Denver does use the zone blocking scheme effectively but if you look I believe their average size on the o-line is the smallest in the NFL, where as we have a very large line and I think we are too slow on the o-line to use the zone blocking. We should take advantage of our size and strength and go back to smash mouth blocking and STOP FLIPPING THE F%$#ING O-LINE FOR PETE'S SAKE IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!
I have to agree Foster is an awful RB, he is so slow hitting the hole and all of his moves look like slow motion compared to Hardesty.

I think it says something when on the few occasions we are 2nd and 5yds or less, it seems like they always want to pass. It's not screaming confidence in our O-line and backs. In almost every situation I can think of, when a new QB takes the field, you want to lean on the running game. I just don't get it, where is the old "we're goona line-up and ram this ball down the field." I just wonder where the mentality of being a tough team has gone.

Did anyone read the Chatt Times Free Press from yesterday? UGAs D-line says they knew which direction we were running 80% of the time by the formation we used, personnel, lineman tips, etc. Surprised? heck, think about it, most of us on here can probably call what play we are running when we line up at least 50% success.
