Jaylen McCollough Commits to UT

Georgia has swiped 2 big linemen from us, but we got Morris and several skill players from the peach state.
There is nothing special about Logue (from Lebanon). It's not clear how much we even wanted him. I would take Norton but Logue is a project. They can have him... If he ever starts there, that means they aren't as loaded as I thought.

probably meant Mays instead of Logue.

This is great BUT look at the one's ahead of us. They are our opponents in the S.E.C. If we are the 5th best recruiting class in the S.E.C. and our opponents are ahead of us, we may never catch our opponents............
Not all of our opponents are ahead of us. We lost to Kentucky and Vanderbilt last year. We have lost to Vanderbilt 4 out of the last 6 years. Recruiting as well as we are and with some degree of player development and coaching, we should be able to put an end to that crap. Nobody moves straight from the projects into a penthouse.

I know there are teams ahead of us like LSU but recent history doesn't seem to make that a great predictor of things to come. I do believe you need to consistently be in the top 15 or so to compete on the big stages but as we've seen with CBJ, you can recruit on a high level and still be ranked in the bottom third nationally. Heck I saw an article where WVU ranked 50th or so in recruiting yet potentially possesses a highly touted offense. So yeah it's good to be in the top 15, but I believe its what you do with it after they get on campus, from scheme, player development, S&C, and other intangibles. We've been there, are there again, now it's what we do with it that'll matter. $0.02

It is funny how shocked some folks are on Pruitt's recruiting. It is not like he hasn't been on these kids for a couple years already. Right now he has the ability to sell early playing time to boot. Anyone happen to see the Madre London interview? He said something in the vid that really stood out to me. He made it a point to state that this staff has more NC rings than any other staff. Early playing time and solid coaching will lead you top quicker than folks realize.
It always kills me folks saying UT is not relevant anymore. That is total BS. UT is still very relevant and is known for the great fan following, premier facilities, and powerhouse tradition.

Nostradamus says it won't take as long to get back into the penthouse as it did to slide down that slippery slope.

Bahooom!

Read this and do the math. Might wanna give at least a little shout out to that other coach and his helpers for laying some obviously + groundwork here ...

"The offer always kind of stuck with me too. I was playing running back then when they offered me my freshman year. Tennessee offered and it was my only offer for a long time. It meant something to me. It was at least three or four months before my second offer came.
"I remember being up at Tennessee the spring of my freshman year for a 7v7 event and that is when they offered. After I got the offer, I went back up there to Tennessee for the spring game with my family a few weeks later and that visit was great too
."

... that made an obvious impression on the young man and his family. Glad our new HC already had a relationship from UGA days as well and they all closed the deal. Well at least the verbal.

Big needed get.
